We're you able to swap it out? This morning my wife's phone was hot and showed the message to let it cool down.

Didn't need to. She said it stopped getting warm. If it starts again I will make an appointment and take it in.

Was at the Chainsmokers concert on Sunday in SLC and my 7 got very, very warm as well. Gets very warm while charging too. I charge with LPM and Airplane On. Im going to restore today and start from scratch. "/

I wonder of this problem is with all the phones or just some of them.

A phone should not get hot unless your are playing games or watching video.

Just texting, e-mail, light apps should not make it hot.

My 6s got hot every time while using YouTube when I first got it. I had to uninstall the YouTube app and reinstall it. Then it quit doing that. Google apps don't work well on iOS sometimes. I think the restore from a backup causes some trouble.

Is this normal to happen ok day to day use of the iPhone

Just checked my new 7 with an infrared thermometer, it's 105F in a 75F environment.
Does it still get warm with daily use

Smartphones, tablets, notebooks and laptops should not get hot doing simple stuff. Unless you are playing games or watching videos it should not get hot.

There may be OS problem if the CPU is running full speed for
simple stuff.

Just texting, e-mail, light apps and light internet use should be cold to the touch.

My first iPhone 7+ was really hot, to the point where I couldn't really hold it. Then it died and never turned back on. Luckly I got my original pre-ordered iPhone today. So far this only got a little hot while restoring and since then as been fine.

Sounds like this could be problem with these new phones if lot of people are saying the iPhone 7 is getting really hot.

Just got warm but that even not too much while restoring. After that never felt any abnormalities.

Mine got extremely hot 7+MB. It even got a tempeture warning. I wasn't doing anything with it. The phone was just sitting there. Took it to Apple Saturday morning. And they are replacing the phone. Now my phone won't even charge.

Hopefully the new phone is issue free.

Sounds like this could be new problem when phone is charging it is overheating when it is charging. As other people have had same problems.

I know my older phone use to get some what hot when charging.

Same here. My girlfriend was hot when I first met her, but it evened itself out over time.
Lol
[doublepost=1475015959][/doublepost]Mine only gets hot when I am playing a game, or watching a streaming show on NetFlix, which I am assuming means those two high performance cores were really going at it. Doesn't get hot at all while charging.

Been with the replacement phone for ever a week now. no issues with temp. It gets a little warm under heavy use but nothing my ipad or other phones haven't done.

Ugh! First phone got warm after a minute of use. Genius appointment said it's normal and wouldn't swap it out. Chatted online and they sent an express replacement right away. Even commented how weird it was they didn't replace it since I have apple care. Second phone, same issue. Brightness at 100% and viewing instagram for a minute already makes the home button and bottom bezel get warm. Doesn't seem normal to me. I understand heavy use, but after a minute of light use?! Not good.

Were you restoring? Because these devices always get hot in restoration.

No. during restoration, heavy use, gaming, video playback, it makes sense. But I have the AC on and literally just surfing the net in bed, one app open and the bottom area is already warming up.

I really hope this is a software issue.

My matte black 7+ 128g arrived about an hour ago. Using it for only about 10 mins it feels like I have my hands around a cup of hot coffee. (This is with and without a case) What's going on here? My 6+ never got warm or hot at all. Please tell me something isn't wrong with my phone...

My phone was worryingly hot yesterday and this morning but it was STILL downloading all my music in the background and stuff as I did other tasks. Once that all finished up, my phone is at a normal feel and no more heat. iOS in general became really bogged down for me because of all that restoring/downloading going on so just be patient with it for whoever is reading this with a new phone!
I laid mine on ice pack while restoring, stayed nice and cold.

A lot of people? Is that like the couple dozen on here out of millions.

Mine got hot during restore as it was working hard downloading my music, photos, apps and I had it plugged in.after that only time it gets warm is if I have screen turned up 100%, charging, and doing something intensive.

I have heard people in past iPhones could have heat issues if an app hangs up and powered the radio constantly. Or get caught in a loop. They usually cured it by deleting and re downloading the app fresh. You can many times detect the offending app by looking for unusual run times when you look at battery in settings. Hit the little clock on right side to give you screen and standby times for each app

With that said, if you have a cell in battery that is defective, that has heated up phones in past. But Apple can detect that by running diagnostic if you are worried.
