There is no point in comparing a jet black that is owned by one person vs one that has passed through thousands of hands and curious people with the purpose of testing just how undurable the jet black really is.

But be my guest everybody cancel your jet black orders!
Yes! I want mine sooner! :p

Got mine today and it's amazing , the jet black rocks!!! No yellow, no hiss, just perfecto.
Thank you for calming me down about every single thing I've been worried about. I don't wanna wait weeks for it to come and then there's something wrong and then wait months for a replacement!

Why is everyone acting as if glossy black is a color that Apple just claimed to invent with the iPhone 7? If im not mistaken this was a color option with hte iPhone 3G and 3GS. Even back then it was getting scratched. So what with all the outrage? Some of you need to get jobs, lives, **ssy or something. Its getting beyond ridiculous.

I know right!
I remember how bad my palm pre back in the day scratched and it was literally this color

the over reaction in this thread

Rude? lol

Let me get this straight; you think that it's "rude" to try and scratch a product that belongs to a multi-billion dollar company when it's there on display as a demo for exactly that purpose? Oh, and just in case that's not the purpose of the demo model in store, the company doesn't mind either way because if they did, they would either have you arrested or replaced the scratched phone already.

So who's to say that I can't run my fingernails through the beautiful glossy finish to see if it scratches? After all, it's not my phone and the act may persuade me to buy it. And I'm allowed to do it. So why shouldn't I?
If I were a shop owner and I would catch you trying to destroy my goods on purpose, I´ll guarantee I would run my five fingers across your head!;)

Yeahhhhhh.... I think the purpose of a demo is to test the product to see if you want to purchase it. I don't think the purpose of a demo is to try to intentionally destroy it.

Took this today in the apple store. This is reality, about 4-5 big/deep scratches and TONS of mini/micro scratches. I know it's hard to see them, the finger prints make it harder - trust me it's a hot mess. I do like it though, even though it feels plastic/5c. GET A SKIN for it ASAP!

Yet another thread on how the jet black gets scratches. I did not know this! Lol.

Interesting. Do you think that test-driving a car is also rude? I mean, during the test drive, no matter how short, you're wearing out the car's tires, brakes, engine, suspension, paint, etc. And then you can decide that you don't want the car. Isn't that rude?
Surely you wouldn't take out the keys and scratch it though.

Does this shock us anymore? These types of things are just as common as the new "Gate" threads. Makes me wanna drink myself stupid sometimes. ^_^

Thats why I got the white 3Gs back in the day and swapped it right before I sold it.

I don't see all the point of these "matte black is better" or "jet black scratches easily" threads. Just buy a clear case or a film wrap (like I am) if it bothers you. The stainless backs on the iPod scratched ever year they made them, this is nothing new.

Apple has plenty of money to deal with scratched display models. I can't believe you're not smart enough to understand that they already accounted for that when selling millions of iPhones worldwide. If you want to discuss morals, go back to kindergarten. If you want to talk business, then wake up and smell the coffee.

The truth of the matter is that all those banged up and otherwise ruined demo models in stores are already paid for. It's all factored into the price of your brand new iPhone. Believe me, when I scratch a display model, you and others already paid for it. So it makes little to no difference how badly and how many get scratched. You're paying for it regardless. Deal with it.[/QUOTE]

I'm glad the majority do not think like you, otherwise iPhones would start at 3 grand, since we're the ones paying for the insurance. Following your mentality (assuming you're a law abiding citizen that has car insurance), if your car is for sale and a buyer comes over and scratches the paint with a key "to test if your car's been in a garage or in the sun before he buys it", that would be ok, right?

It's pretty rude of people to go into a store and start conducting scratch test on something that doesn't belong to them. I saw it happen yesterday with the jet black 7 that was on display.

Thats the point of a display model.

Because the wraps on the JB dont look that good. And, clear cases tend to show poorly.

Why does anyone need to own a JB to comment. While it may look amazing a great percentage of the happy buyers of JB today wont be a year from now when that phone looks like crap. If you have to case it why buy it at all.

Thats the point of a display model.

The point of a display model is to, hold on, wait for it.......... display a device. Unfortunately for us, apple has not come out with a destruction demo...

Do you go to a car dealership and try to scratch the paint on the floor displays they have sitting next to Fred's desk? Demos are to test, not destroy.

Wrong.

Put that car in the showroom or on the lot. If I bump into it and it gets scratched its on the dealer. Even if I rubbed the paint with my finger and its scratched....too bad for the dealer. They should leave on the paint wrap if that is concern. Now if I test drive and crash...totally different situation.

It's not there for you to intentionally destroy, however. Going into a store and deliberately scratching it just because you wanna see if it'll scratch is NOT what they're there for. I suppose by your logic you'll say that when the IP6/P bending issue came out... it would have been okay for users to go into the store and start deliberately bending the phones as well to see how far they could get it to bend. That's not okay.

9 days later and very intensive use (naked) of my jetblack iPhone. Still no visible scratches....
Damn! I must be doing something wrong here...
