I have mine in a clearish case. I think it is a bit slick but a protector on the back will help that. Just like my 6s :). It's growing on me.

It really is incredibly slick. I do think the JB looks plastic (not in a bad way), but if you use your phone naked it is probably the better choice from a potential drop standpoint.

I greatly prefer the matte black appearance. I actually prefer the matte black feel, too, but I'm going from a 6 to a 7 Plus and worry about dropping the larger phone if I go with the matte. That's the *only* reason I ordered Jet Black, but I'm having doubts given the long wait time (late November for me).

This is where I'm at. I prefer the Matte Black look/feel, but given they decided to stick with this inane slippery/rounded edges design, I have no choice but to wait for Jet Black.

It's like a freaking live trout.

Had to buy the ugliest case just until I get near an Apple Store for the leather case.

Beware.

If you're coming from S7 Edge, which has a plastic case and therefore significantly less slippery than aluminum, then yes, it's like a live trout by comparison. However, it's actually not any more slippery than the other matte aluminum finishes.

The Jet Black iPhone 7 is more grippy/tacky than the other colors though.

Take into account the environment you're in. It's pretty dry here in Ohio and the phone slides a lot more than when I am in humid Florida. Especially when using the screen.

The S7 has that glass back and metal edges along with a curved glass front. That's pretty damn slippery, too.

Curious to hear from those who got the Matte Black iPhone 7 as everyone is saying how nice the grip on the JB version is. I may take the plunge and get the plus this time and I would like to see if I can avoid getting a case for it as it may add too much bulk.

No more slippery than the 6/6s IMO. But a matteskin fixed that and protects it.

All the matte finished + models are the most slippery dry thing ever manufactured. I've never held something that's dry and as slippery and hard to hold as an iPhone matte textured plus. It's amazing.

The phone feels like the previous phones lol if you're used to the 6/6s you'll have no issues with it.

Just received mine this morning and I cannot get over how gorgeous this black matte looks. Or I just miss having an actual black iPhone.

It really is. We all have our favorite models/generations of iPhones, but this is it for me. That said, because of the relative non-slipperiness, I still have an order in for the Jet Black. I'm wavering, though, because the matte really does it for me.

It's a bit slippery, sure, but it's not that bad. In fact, 6S was by far the slipperiest iphone I've had. Jet Black seriously gets way too many smudges and fingerprints, otherwise it looks great. A TAD bit less slippery, but honestly in day to day routine, you won't notice a difference in slipperiness with black or jet black. It's a non-factor.

Definitely noticed how slippery it is as soon as I took it out of the box. It is as smooth as glass. Badass looking phone though especially with the blacked out Apple logo. Very stealthy.

Swapped my matte black iPhone 7 yesterday for a jetblack iPhone 7 at my local Apple Store.

The grip of the jetblack is really amazing. Comparing to the matte black 7, the matte black is like holding a soapblock.

Love my jetblack 7. A master piece of design.
Using it caseless with AppleCare+
