This would make sense, I understood it would have been touch-sensitive....

But if it's 3D Touch like, it may be ok...u just know their be issues first time round.

An addition by subtraction.

Favorite new feature (or omission) next to iOS10's "Raise to Wake" which copied Motorola's Active Display. The omission of the 3.5mm headphone jack doesn't bother me much. More and more, it copies Android which is fine because I prefer Android way more than restrictive iOS.

Three favorite 'hardware' features from iPhone 7 / 7 Pro -
1. Flush 3D Touch home button
2. Water-resistance
3. Dual stereo speakers

I will only accept this if it makes for a bigger battery. Come on, I'm tired of charging ever few hours.

Every few hours? What are using your phone for, watching movies all day???

Anyways, if the 3.5 Jack is deleted, this was in hopes of a larger battery to be in place. It's reported they are increasing the size of the battery.

If they could add a LED notification ring around the home button with haptic feedback. I would be one happy customer!
I was just thinking the same thing and read this comment. I visualized a nice LED red circular glowing ring.

"press home to unlock" is probably The one piece of evidence Apple will do this with the home button.

Agreed. This also got me thinking that I wonder if that is why all these "supposed photo leaks" never show the front of the iPhone. It's always the back. Makes no sense how someone holding the "supposed device" wouldn't just take a photo of the front. This is also leading me to believe perhaps Apple is the one putting out these leaks.

The source article doesn't say it will be flush and it has no reason to be - they didn't make the force touch trackpad flush with the body because you can't feel it.

Also, it wouldn't make sense for waterproofing unless they made the display glass cover the sensor rather than the sapphire cover - unlikely.

It won't move but that doesn't mean it will be flush.

Although the battery capacity will increase, part of that may be due to the increased power consumption of using Bluetooth headphones or similarly lightning headphones. Speakers will likely use more power as well. Nevertheless it will still be an improvement.

Call me when it's gone for good...
Why what's the advantage? A 'cleaner front' at the expense of ease of use?

3D touch doesn't mean it has to be flush.

This is great news!!! and it makes sense if they are moving towards a waterproof casing.

I just read the article on macotakara.jp and they say that the new color (space black) will look similar to the mac pro. Apple is said to keep the other ones so we will have 5 color options.

i don't know about you guys but i am definitely getting one in space black if this rumor is true.

I would welcome a new color in Space Black and will be upgrading on Day one. I definitely think it will be more waterproofed, even the 6S is fairly water resistant. See you at launch day.

Those don't look like mockups.
Yep it comes from nowhereelse French site and he always got good contacts that have the latestleak before everyone else so I can say that are real valid models. Maybe without board inside but the look will be that.

I usually am right with my predictions and intuition except for that Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. My bad on that one. I will refer to iPhone 7 as the 6se from now on until the official name comes out for it.

iPhone 5
iPhone 5s
iPhone SE

iPhone 6/6 Plus
iPhone 6s/6s Plus
iPhone 6se/6se Pro

A three-year cycle thing and 6se is to the 6/6s what the SE was to the 5/5s.

This flush 3D Touch home button is one of the best things to ever arrive for iPhones along with iOS10's "Raise to Wake." Along with virtual volume controls/brightness, the less presses on mechanical buttons, the longer they last. That annoying Assistive Touch can now be turned off since iPhones lack a back button that can be found on Android. With iPhone 6s and SE which will also have "Raise to Wake", you will still need to press that physical home button or turn on Assistive Touch to go back to the homescreen. So yes, expect more broken, FIX ME physical home buttons.

Capacitive button + Raise to Wake is two of the best features ever for the iPhone 6se. This is coming from a nearly 5-year Android vet that dealt with shoddy home buttons since many Android phones back then didn't have "double tap to wake" or "raise to wake" until 2013 when the LG G2 and Moto X came out. We had to keep pressing the power button almost a hundred times a day to wake up the screen. Something 6s and SE owners might still be doing with the physical home button if Assistive Touch is turned off just to go "back" to their homescreen. Raise to Wake only remedies waking up your iPhone but NOT when going back to the homescreen to open up a different app.

The iPhone 6se could last for a very long time and won't be plagued with a glass rear like the iPhone 7/7s/7se for the next three years. This is the iPhone to upgrade to, folks. If you are a long time Android user, this is the one to get. Not 6s or SE. Longevity over aesthetics. Practical over pretty.

I agree with your predictions. For one, I feel the new iPhone in September will be known as the '6Se'. And the flush home button with 3D touch style features will be present.

There is a lot of hate towards this new iPhone in the fall, but I am welcoming it with open arms. Let's hope your correct.

If true, this could be one of the best ever improvements for me.
I've had faulty buttons on previous iPhones, so I'd more than welcome a non mechanical/haptic feedback home button.
If it's waterproof too, this iPhone will be a killer update (the rear cameras will be greatly improved, if leaked parts are the real deal).
Boring or iterative is definetly not what the 2016 iPhone seems to be, after all.

The problem I have with this is that in iOS10 the "rest/press to open" can be very frustrating if it doesn't read your fingerprint. You HAVE to fail the scan 3 times to get to the passcode screen. They need to bring back swipe to unlock so that you can go straight to the passcode if you want to.

Rest to unlock was always an option when swipe to unlock was the main feature

That's the point though; you don't need to press the Home button anymore so why keep it?
You will need to press it. It won't move.

It's not really news at this point and it doesn't make sense for waterproofing - a non-flush stationary home button would also allow for waterproofing. I hope they do introduce that new color though, maybe that's the reason why Tim Cook is optimistic about sales.
