I have the EXACT same problem as you, got one on my 6s plus last year and another one on my 7 plus this year... It/s bugging me so I'mma have to return it. I paid almost 900 dollars for it so I would expect it to be perfect.

The dust will not affect image quality as you mentioned as it is too close to the lens for it to be in focus. It is a great excuse to trigger an exchange down the road though.

well I've checked multiple 7 Plus models, all of which had a little speck of dust or two under the camera lens cover. I'm thinking it's just part of the manufacturing process and there's not much we can do about it. I know I don't have time to play the phone lottery game and inspect each one of them with a magnifying glass.

I'm just gonna have to deal with it...I don't think I see it in pictures or anything..it just bothers the hell out of me...once you see it, it's hard to un-see it.

Definitely a first world problem though.

I thought I'd share my experience of this issue.

I was cleaning my 7 plus and noticed dust in the camera, 2 bits right in the middle. Went to the store today, they said they could replace the camera no problems and clean it out. Would take a couple of hours.

Went back to collect it and they said the dust was actually inside the glass lens itself, they tried to clean it out but it didn't work and it would need to be replaced. They have ordered me a replacement that should be here in a couple of days. Just got to wait for a call now to go and do the swap.

I know it's more cosmetic than anything but I don't believe dust should be there at all to be honest, not when this phone costs so much money!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree with you that the dust shouldn't be there. It drives me insane. But I'm starting to accept the fact that it's just the way the phone is manufactured and it's inevitable.

Will you let us know if you have dust in the lens of the replacement?

Some of you guys are really anal. The dust inside will not show up. https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2011/08/the-apocalypse-of-lens-dust/

I don't think there is anything anal about it. I paid a lot for this phone and I want one I am happy with. I know they will never be perfect as the are so mass produced however to have a spot right in the middle of the lens is really annoying. More power to you if stuff like this doesn't bother you.

Even the genius in the store said it shouldn't happen and was unacceptable. He also said they had never seen a 7 plus with dust inside the lens before.

I will update once I get my replacement, Ive since arranged an express replacement online as going to the store will literally take me all day!

Quick update, I got my replacement phone last night and there isn't any visible dust in the lens at all.

It also doesn't make that creaking noise like in the corner like my last one either.

Great service too!

This happened last year with my pre-order of the 6s Plus..I was so excited to get my device..only to see dust particles trapped under the camera lens cover.

I don't think it really has a lot of impact on picture quality, but once you see it...it's hard to unsee it. And it's bothersome to me...it's like wearing glasses with finger prints on them or smudge mark on them...you can still see fine, but it's just annoying.

if you guys look closely, can you see dust trapped under your lens cover? If so, do you care...are you swapping the device? Living with it?...I'd just like other people's thoughts.

Thanks in advance and I hope you all are enjoying your phones!!

I appreciate the feedback. It does seem to be just how they're made..some have the dust, some don't. some have a few specks, some just one. My Wife's iPhone 7 is perfectly clean which makes me jealous.

It's annoying but I think it's a waste of time returning it over and over again.

Give it a good tap against a soft surface to dislodge it otherwise exchange it and take your chances with a different defect like dust under the bonded screen that can't be dislodged.
I had a big piece of dust or debris that was stuck under my lens and I followed the advice above and slapped my phone against the soft part of my leg and sure enough it fixed the problem.

I have the iPhone 7 and I have a little speck of dust underneath my camera. I was thinking about swapping it because like you said, once you see it you can't unsee it no matter how small, however, I decided to just put up with it because it seems day by day it gets smaller and I can only see it before I take a picture but when I take the picture and look in my camera roll at the photo it's not there. Maybe just be patient and it will go away if not I'd go to apple and see if they can get it out for you.

My iPhone 7+ only 1 week old, has dust particles under the lens cover. Definitely no bumps. No effect on picture quality but it it not right. I am going to have to changed.
