I Agree with the OP. The iPhone 8 doesn't offer enough for me to upgrade for my 7 Plus. That's why am opting for the iPhone X. Mainly, I look forward to the OLED display.

So 64 gb of storage is worth more than a faster chip, TrueTone, improved camera, wireless charging and fast charging?

No offense but that doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, 128GB is worth more than the 8 (8 Plus) for the following reasons.

1) The faster chip (the 7 Plus was already pretty damn fast) and I'm upgrading for an SE and my wife from a 6.

2) TrueTone (I hate TrueTone - the screen always looks yellow and I always turn it off). If it had ProMotion, that would be a different story.

3) The actual camera is pretty much the same except for the additional FPS in Slow-Mo and a software update in Portrait (let me know if I'm missing anything)?

4) Wireless Charging (isn't even available yet + cost additional $)

5) Cost additional $...and the Plus battery on the 6 last me all day when I had it a few years back (and I'd charge at night when sleeping).

6) It's $180 more for the option I would have chosen at 256 GB

Damn bro, why you killing his happiness! He now gonna doubt his decisoin.
I'm not! In the past, absolutely lol.

But it was to the point where I printed out a picture of the iPhone X and gave it to my wife for her BDay last week. After the announcement we both weren't impressed due to the storage options (forcing us to buy 256GB) and the delayed date.

She said she wouldn't mind saving and getting the 7 Plus and I told her she was crazy...then I did the side by side comparison with the 8 and 8 Plus and didn't see any major differences worth $380 (since I was buying two phones).

Just ordered it yesterday and it arrives today

Yeah man, you're probably right, I should keep my yap shut lol
Yet I responded directly to you and you ignore my post.

I may be an Apple fan, but you're a fanboy if you can't recognize how the 8/8 Plus is an absolute joke to price gauge on the X.

Don’t forget the portrait mode on camera... a software change only on the 8+ and not available on the 7+

To be clear - the lighting options

Naw man, not a fanboy here. I am recently jumping back into the apple world and having so recently drank the cool-aid maybe there is a smidge of that going on.

Like I said enjoy your 7 plus, it's a beast of a phone!

Very true. For someone into photography that definitely makes sense. I'm just glad to get the dual cameras and regular portrait mode.

In all honestly, if they would have thrown in the fast charger and charged $100 for the next storage tier (not $150) I probably would have gotten the X haha.

Those two things pushed me all the way back "down" to the 7 Plus.

As a professional photographer, the portrait lighting looks... eh. I mean, a lot of people won't be able to tell, but it just looks pretty fake to me. I mean, the regular portrait mode looks fake too, but less so, especially depending on the photo. I could change my mind after getting my actual hands on it and trying out the portrait lighting, but yeah, I feel like you're not missing much there. Faking light in post processing is always worse than just having the actual light. Always.
