I wanted to share my tale of iPhone 7 November deliveries, which is a bid sad, in a first world kind of way.
So I stayed awake on release night for my iPhone 6S on Apples iPhone upgrade program. 1AM MST came and the site didn't let me in. 1:04AM, I finally get through on my Mac and selected the iPhone upgrade program, entered my serial, see the options for iPhone 7+ are gone... I wanted JetBlack. I quickly reserve a Black iPhone 7 and figure I can get the phone I want on release day inventory, or return this one when they are available. HA.
Days later, I see murmurs of iPhone Upgrade Programmers being mis-treated by low inventory and selection, and notice the number to call 800-MyApple to possibly get the iPhone I wanted. Called 3x, and they said I will be able to get the iPhone I want in store. I think, awesome! My reservation is at 8am, Ill get first picks.
Release day is here, awake at 5am. At the Apple store mall at 6:10am. I'm about 30th in line, and fear Im going to miss out. Apple store reps come out and ask us to form a line for reservations, and non-reservations. Holy ****, I'm 3rd in line for reservations, which happened to be last in line of the reservations, yea there was three of us. Apple rep comes by to confirm and take reservations. He says we can have two reservations, so I ask if I can make another while I wait in line. He said I could, so I ordered my iPhone 7+ as a backup plan while waiting in line.
8am is here. I'm still third in line, but now some f'n 9 year old vLogger is behind me squeaking to his derp-tubers about how excited he is about getting is ****ing new iPhone. I contemplate getting jail time, but the desire for new iPhone wins. Moments later, the Apple brainwashed store reps form a line and prep to cheer us on while we enter the store, god help me. If only I was allowed to order this phone online and have it ship like everyone else not in the iPhone upgrade program.
We enter the store, and start the bidness of getting my new iPhone. Rep brings out the reserved iPhone 7 128 Black. Were at the last step and it says were unable to complete the transaction. "Do you have an iPhone on order" the rep says. Well sure as **** I did! Your other Apple rep back in line told me I could get a 2nd one, so I ordered it. I'll admit, this was my fault, but I sure as heck didn't think I would have my salad tossed with fresh Apples quite like I did.
Apple rep asks if I can cancel the order. No go, online order cancel fails. 800-MyApple isn't taking calls due to high volume. Rep comes back after some back and forth and informs me my iPhone 7 reserved phone was released for other reservations, and I could buy a Rose/Gold 32GB if I wanted. Apple rep and manager did not budge, in fact he agree'd that Apple completely screwed me. It was exceptionally nice to see reports on Apple blogs about how those in New Zealand got $100 gift cards since those poor souls didn't get the iPhone's they wanted. I grasps for straws to see what they would do, but Vaseline was too much to offer as a consolation. I walked out, empty handed... meanwhile, contemplating jail time again as I walk past the 9 year old vLogger kid as he receives his iPhone 7+!
In the end, knowing I reserved my phone at 1AM on the 8th, and ultimately 3rd in line for the Apple iPhone Upgrade program let me know Apple didn't have CRAP for iPhone 7+ stock available for those stuck in the Apple iPhone Dick Parade program. Friends of mine, who were on carrier replacement programs got their **** delivered on the 16th. Instead, I ran home and ordered my iPhone 7+ 128 JetBlack online, with a delivery of Nov 23rd.
So that brings me here awaiting November. First world problems, no f'n doubt. But Apple could have done so much better for a loyal customer.
