That's the thing, it's not as simple as that. At least not in the sense that another phone having more doesn't mean that a different one with somewhat less performs worse and can in fact perform better--and that's the kind of thing that a typical user wouldn't really understand or even think about either not knowing any better or simply going with nothing more than "more is better".
It is as simple as that. More RAM is better. You're arguing something different now. You're moving into how companies use RAM and how different operating systems utilize different aspects of their hardware.

Yes, context matters, that's kind of the whole point.

Exactly! They won't talk about RAM because we now have devices with upto 6GB RAM, and if Apple mentions 3GB, the 'average consumer' will think negatively of it.
Other phones can have all the RAM they can cram into them, the iPhone still runs circles around them. Spec sheet wars are so, old school. Real world performance is where it's at.

And if you know anything at all, you know Apple has never discussed RAM at any announcements. Why should they start now. And they were very classy and didn't mention the Note 7 recall.

We won't know for sure until some Geekbench results leak or the embargo for reviews lift and the reviewers post Geekbench results. But Geekbench might not be updated to sense the extra RAM on iPhones. Sometimes it glitches out on new hardware until the app is updated. I think sometimes Anandtech and others have loaded up tests in Xcode, etc that can tell us, and we'll for sure know when the teardown happens. But with all of these we miss the launch window for ordering.

Yea, spec sheet wars are so old school.. which is why they kept yapping about the camera specs, among other things..

But, what do I know!

And these other phones have quad HD, run active widgets, multitask, has smart pen function (note 7), and allows for virtual reality movie watching and gaming.....this is what I call running circles around a device...actually doing more
