Poor your souls who MUST be the first one in the block, check every 5 minutes on UPS status, u get a locked phone.
I was also considering getting an unlocked phone form the US but it seems like it's nowhere near as easy as it is in the UK. They're available here day 1 and it's quite clear they're unlocked.
For whatever reason, Apple waits to start selling the "sim free" version in the US. Most other countries get the sim free or unlocked version right out of the gate. It's probably just a supply and demand issue, or possibly some agreement with the carriers here?
Just buy a Sprint or Verizon phone full price at Apple for full world-phone functionality, unlocked. I'm using the Sprint model with AT&T currently.
You are 100% correct. I'm on VZW on At&t now. It works better than Att model on Att. I had a chance to compare them.
The only problem that the iPhone I have produces a loud buzzing noise and camera noise and this is not the first one already. That's why I decided to wait till SIM free model and giv Apple one more chance. If not I go with Note 7 , I had it and I like it the same as iPhone 7+.
Also you cannot any longer buy VZW/Sprint model without VZW/Sprint account. Apple closed a loophole with reservation and paying full price at the store.

For what it's worth my company just received its first set of SIM-free A1661 phones from Apple Enterprise sales. These are sealed model A1661, and an empty SIM tray. No idea when consumers will be able to buy these.
Can anyone please tell me if this version will work with Virgin Mobile? Thank's for any help.
Thanks. I've tried to research the small amount of information online about it. It's a bit conflicting though. I suppose I should just go in an actual store hahaI can't see why not. Virgin Mobile isn't listed under the LTE, but you can bring your own phone to Virgin Mobile in the US, right?
I bought iPhone 7 plus MB T-mobile. When i inserted my T-Mobile SIM Card, it said that i have to call T-Mobile if i wanted to change to another SIM Card in the future. So T-Mobile doesn't really SIM free i think. I bought the full price and unlocked one.get a t-mo version, its the same
