Got everything running. Nothing is off.
Wanted to test its battery under the most "normal" load

So you have everything under, settings > privacy > location services > System services, enabled? Cell network search, , compass calibration etc All enabled?

Do you have auto brightness set to Auto?

This may be a crazy thought but I'll put it out there, is there a possibility that by turning off these location system services somehow the overall battery life decreases instead of improving and that all these location services need to be left enabled as it was intended by Apple to have optimal battery life?

As I mentioned everything on and on auto where available.

I have to charge mid day everyday. Never had to do that with the 6plus on iOS 9.

I do suspect reception on Verizon and some apps not yet properly supporting background refresh on iOS 10 could be the culprits.

I am being a bit more careful with my battery usage and charging but this is amazing. 16 hours of usage is crazy. hoping to see that be 24 hours a few iphones down the road.

Can you post your settings for us? Such detailed location services settings you have switched on/off

I posted in another thread but this one is more appropriate.

In just over 5 hours this morning, I am down to 28%! My 7+ has been awful since I got it 2 weeks ago today.

I have tried everything I have seen suggested in this thread and elsewhere. Nothing is working. Just in Airplane mode with no apps running, I lost 13% in one hour!

Any help? Or is this a clear cut exchange?

thanks,

Sorry for the hyperbole but my battery life is STUNNING. On my Galaxy S7 Edge I was lucky to have enough battery to make it through the day without charging. This was with everything on and while listening to podcasts during the day. Yes I could have turned stuff off, but the reason I have a high end smart phone is so I don't have to.

Earlier this week I listened to podcasts almost non stop while at work, and then continued when I got home (nice to do while working on warhammer models). By the time I went to bed I had 34% battery left. Didn't plug it in a single time.

Oh wow that's really bad. That really sounds like a faulty battery to me. 13% an hour would be really bad for high usage, much less in airplane mode

Using mine 7 plus since october 12th...as I came from a Xperia Z3 I don't have anyhow to compare with previous iphone models.

For example, today I unplugged it from the wall charger at 4:30am and now 5pm I still have 78% of juice and I use it bluetooth linked with my Garmin watch full time for notifications!

What you guys think?

update - Got a replacement finally at the Apple Store. Restored from an icloud backup made just before going to the store and the new phone is perfect. 14 hours of standby and 4-5 hours of regular usage and I still had 60% battery!

It has been over a week now and all I can say is I am very sure the old issue was hardware related. Battery checked out fine but it must have been a bad chip somewhere.

Pretty sure my battery life is not very good...

I've noticed that I can barely get through a full day. It gets slightly heavy usage but still...

I can literally watch it tick down.

I have every setting on I don't believe in turning it off.

First 2-3 days amazing battery. Heavy safari and Apple Music streaming, 8hrs of usage and just hitting 20% warning

4th day it went bad and has continued

Now I'm lucky to make anything more than 4.5hrs with 1% remaining

I deleted all 3rd party apps and charged to full and left it alone

5.5hrs later I looked at it and it had 30min usage and had dropped to 95%

Now as much as someone of u would say turn off half my settings, my fiances black was setup by me. Both phones set up clean no restore. Every setting on. Her plus gets about 5hrs of usage with 70% remaining. Her usage mainly facebook, instagram, whatsapp, Apple Music

Can't pinpoint the problem.

I'm pretty sure draining from 100-0% is exactly what you don't want to do...at least not very often. Li-ion batteries don't like operating in the 0-20% and 80-100% zones, at least in terms of battery wear over time.

Agree it is not recommended. These batteries don't use a memory effect. There was always talk of calibrating batteries on my older Androids. It is not needed here.

Guys i find the battery life to be very good when using the plus but when in standby it seems to drain up to 10% over night, I've disabled all the system services except find my iPhone, there are a few apps that need the location services on or they won't work, but last night i turned off location services and it didn't use even 1%, but i shouldn't have to do this, is it it possible find my iPhone could be using the battery?

I'm draining it right now to the point where the device shuts off so that I can charge the device to 100% from 0 to do my first battery calibration sort of charge
Just FYI, this isn't necessary on the type of battery your phone uses. That will actually harm your battery more than just charging it up to 100% when you first get it. It's better to not let your battery die or even get really low.

I charge my iPhone 7 Plus when it hits around 35% and I try to do a full charge or at least get to 80-85%

With Apple Watch Series 2 connected to it, listening to music, some phone calls and messages and Activity App, Internet browsing a few minutes and App Store Updates and some 4G traffic, I get around 1 and half day of usage.

When I don't have time to mess around with it I got 2 full days of usage.

When I played The Room 1, 2 and 3... well... half day....

Background Refresh turned off. Bluetooth and WIFI always ON. No Perspective enabled on home screen.

- Forgot to mention - I do not charge the iphone with Apple's crappy charger brick. I use either iPad's 2 charger or a 3rd party high quality wall charger that provides more power and my iphone charges from 35% to 100% in about 1 and half hours.

For me, battery life is awesome. I end the day with around 85-90% and use about 20% in the evening watching youtube videos and stuff. Best battery life of any phone I have owned including a Note 7, S7 Edge.
