Can you elaborate further why you feel the 7+ camera was a real disappointment and how the 8+ camera has been a major upgrade?

The 7/7+ camera just lacked a lot of things. Dynamic range, color, sharpness, super heavy noise reduction (software) and etc.

The 8/8+ however fixes all of this, it has excellent dynamic range, color reproduction, sharpness and best of all the noise reduction is done by the hardware instead of the software.

Just switched from a 7 Plus to an 8 Plus. A few things are immediately noticeable: battery life is significantly improved; The screen is better (thanks to TrueTone ?); the phone is snappier overall; the camera performance is better in low light.

I also notice better LTE and Wifi reception. (Could this be the cause of the better battery life?)

Anyway, for me, the upgrade was worth it.

I went from the 7+ to the 8+ but only because a family member needed a phone badly. Was surprised but the 8+ felt a good bit smoother and faster but that wears off fast. I like my 8+ but do not consider it a huge upgrade. Love ios 11.

I think it was well worth the upgrade. I tested the 8+ running 11.0 vs my 7+ running 10.3.3 and the 8+ was loads faster both in benchmarks and real world usage. Battery life is significantly better, the new camera blows the old one away, wireless charging is great, True Tone makes the screen look way better. Tons of reasons to upgrade imo
It's this kind of talk that has me wanting the 8+ (if I ditch the x and retire my 7+)

You won't regret getting the 8+ as long as bezels/design aren't that important to you. It's seriously a beast. I wasn't expecting a huge difference between the 7+ and 8+ but I was (am still am) blown away by how good this phone is.

I keep getting the itch to get the iPhone 8 Plus but then every time I use my 7 Plus, I’m always asking myself if the upgrade is worth it. I have zero complaints with my iPhone 7 Plus other than the camera sucks in low light. But I don’t shoot enough low light to make that the big reason. I honestly can’t imagine the phone being any faster. I played with an 8 Plus at Best Buy, Target, and Apple, and nothing really feels faster than my 7 Plus. At least not really noticeable. I did take pics and the 8 Plus is definitely better in all lighting conditions. Much better colors, and sharpness. That’s the thing that is giving me the itch...😉

For me the true tone, slightly better display (colour and brightness), wireless charging and a fresh battery will make it worth it. Plus getting some cash back selling my 7+ will soften the blow. Also getting the 8+ with a discount. Should be getting it this week, fingers crossed it has no gaps or sharp edges.

But to be fair the 7+ is issue free and plenty fast enough. Also I would own an X if it was larger and the screen didn't give me headaches.

Man, you’re not making it easier on me. 😀 It may sound strange, but the other reason I’m itching for the 8 Plus is I actually like the design and Touch ID and I’m pretty sure the 8/8Plus is the last generation of iPhones with home button and Touch ID, and i think because of how over the top performance is (even though no apps push the A10/A11 chips right now), I think the 8 Plus offers some future proofing.

Not enough of a difference for me to move from the 7+. I usually skip a generation, so maybe the 8s+? I’m hoping for a X+ model.

Sorry....😎

Much prefer touch id for unlocking but like tap to wake on X, no reason why this is not available on all current iphones.

Face id is fantastic for passwords but it gets annoying seeing the animation for it everytime.

Also prefer touch id for reachability as the gesture is so low on X. The gesture is not convenient on X as I have to move my thumb very low which changes the grip on the phone. Then trying to swipe down from middle right for example to activate control centre is crap because I then have to fully stretch my thumb up.

Much prefer control centre from the bottom on plus as I use it all the time and it's one swipe. On X it's swipe down on bottom and then stretch for middle right downwards. Too many steps as a one handed user.

As far as design the X being all screen is stunning but the width of plus is better for my use. Also when using the plus I don't see the bezels, just the display. Also the wider keyboard, more text per line, larger images and video = all better on the plus for me.

Also the X speakers are good, better than the 7 plus, but not as full sounding as the 8 plus.

I will hope for an X plus design with lcd next year though.

I've dropped mine twice now on the concrete floors at work... and my previous iPhones using the same type case many more times on the floors at work.

Never shattered any glass... never damaged any exterior part of the phone.

Not a bad deal for $8.

I use egrip on the back of my 8 Plus and it works great to make it grippier.

Being new to the iPhone, I just went with the newest one. My only regret is that the 8 plus has a glass back. I’m not into wireless charging, and having both sides made of glass obviously increases the chances of cracking one side.

Let see, 8 Plus has over 7 Plus:

- True Tone
- Wireless charging
- much faster processor and gpu
- Better cams
- 4K video at 60fps
- Slow sync flash

More that escapes me at the moment before my coffee. 😛

I just finishing returned an 8+ to go back to my 7+. For me, it wasn’t worth the upgrade. I did extensive camera tests and although the 8+ looked a little better, just bumping up the saturation a smidgen on the 7+ made the photos impossible to tell the difference. I had my son and wife compare and they could never consistently pick which one wad the 8+. I also took some pictures at night and there just wasn’t any glaring differences. Portrait Lighting seems like a filter and something like Snapseed can accomplish similar.

Speed wise the 7+ still flies. 11.1.2 was really fast for me and 11.2 is even faster. Day to day use I couldn’t tell any difference in speed. I don’t care about wireless charging and my 7+ battery is still good.

The 8+ is a great phone. Just not that much of a “useable” upgrade since the 7+ is still so good.

I think the animation is used to 'buy time' for Face ID since in this first generation the speed is not super fast yet.

This is not going to happen. The X's basic design will carry on. So no LCD screen. Will there be an X Plus? I doubt about that. But anything can happen under Tim's Apple.

There’s a rumor of an x with lcd next year, actually. I’m more interested in the potential 6.5” X variant.

LCD can't be folded like the OLED screen, so no edge to edge screen if it's LCD. If there is no edge to edge screen, how can they call it an X? Probably an upgraded iPhone 6 design phone? Like iPhone 9?

There’s pics online it’s smaller and cheaper than the other 2 proposed phones•

You're correct. There has been a rumor by Ming Kuo for an LCD 6.1 inch iPhone next year incorporating Face ID. Seems likely to me being offered next to the 5.8/6.5 OLED models.
