They seem to have changed the serial number format, at least on the serial number listed in my support profile.

just that the format is different from the past. It looks like the week codes are different or possibly placed elsewhere in the number

Yes, in the Apple support profile if your phone was ordered through Apple and has shipped (status still may be "preparing for shipment" but some have actually shipped).

I got my iPhone serial number in my AppleCare email after my shipment email and looked it up
