if I turn my iPhone upside down in my hand tap and on the rear of the phone just below the flash, and above the Apple logo I can hear something loose in my phone.

Is this normal? Should I make a genius appointment?

Edit: random thought, could it be the optical image stabilisation?

Yes, no, yes.

Mine does this too. I've worried it might be the flash and the rattle shows something is loose, which would create an area of entry for water. But I've grown to ignore it, with a case on.

That's the optical image stabilization and common in phones that have that feature.

Actually any portable camera device with autofocus will have a slight rattle when tapped. You can hear it on iPads too for example, especially if you tap it right over the camera itself.

Both the iPhone 7/7+ have optical image stabilization. It's not uncommon to hear a slight faint rattle. If it's anything louder than a slight rattle, then I would make a genius appointment.
