Hey friends

I have sold my 6 and now am looking to get a new phone but am confused as to should I buy an iPhone 7 or wait for the next version?

Getting a phone is not urgent as I can easily wait but just unsure if next version would be enough of an upgrade, as I haven't read much rumors about it and iphone 7 is available at around $650 including taxes here in India.

Have I missed some leaks about the upcoming phone?

Any advice!

Thanks

It really comes down to if you feel like waiting until the iPhone 8 debuts in September. The iPhone 7, it's still a great phone and will be supported for years to come. But ultimately, the major rumors for the new iPhone 8 are embedded touch ID under the display, reduced bezels, 5.8 OLED display, wireless charging, Iris scanning/facial recognition.

I would wait being we are only a few months away from the initial launch of the iPhone 8, but if you decide to go to iPhone 7, It's still a very nice phone.

It seems like the 8 will be a major upgrade phone. If you can hold off for a bit, it will be a much better purchase.

The 7/7+ is a great phone and you won't be dissatisfied with it, but you're so close to the next big release that I would wait if I were you.

OK. Seems as if next iphone will be a major upgrade but the concern for me personally is that it would mean a steep rise in the price too, any rumors about the price? Will it remain the same (really doubtful)? I won't mind if it's a minor increase, say $100 but with the rumored changes I think it will be somewhere near $200 or more.

Ah.. Wish I hadn't sold my 6 when I did as I have a few backup phones but sadly none is an iPhone and once you are used to ios it's tough adjusting to Android, it just doesn't feel the same.

May be I will look for a used 5s and use it till the next iPhone is launched and the keep that as a backup phone for future.

If You were interested in the iPhone 8 (5.8 OLED model), which will likely be Apple's most premium iPhone they are going to offer this fall, it will certainly be the most expensive and rumors of indicated it will start at approximately $1000.

What you could do, is use an older iPhone until the iPhone 8 releases, then make a judgment call at that time if you feel it's worth upgrading to the iPhone 8 or purchase the iPhone 7, which will also drop in price when iPhone 8 launches.

Get a refurb 6S from apple. New battery. Nice phone. You can then keep it or sell it when the 8 comes out.
No Apple store in India, so no certified refurbs sadly. Only option is to buy a used one, will look out if I can find any.

That is what I am planning to do mate, thanks.

If you need a phone today and now it's a great buy. No day like today. Technology isn't getting younger.

If you choose to wait for next iphone iteration keep in mind it will probably be back ordered for 3-4-5 months after launch depending on desired color and storage choice.

Yes, it's a fantastic phone, and could still last for several years.

No, we don't know the price, but remember, there will most likely be an iPhone 7S released this autumn as well.

Finally, remember that new phones typically have far more issues and bugs to work out. I'm personally not interested in this or being backordered with Apple for 3 months.

The next iphone could take about 4 months to come out and who knows how hard it will be to get in stock.
Usually when the new iphone its officially announced everyone runs to dump off their older devices.
That's when the used market is saturated with tons of iphones unloaded and used prices drop the most.
If you wait a little longer you could score some pretty good deals on iphone 7 and 6S or 6 models. Or you can wait for the next model if you'd like.

Yup. Decided to wait unless I can get a good deal on a used iPhone. Did chat with one guy who have 4 months old 7, now waiting to see that in person along with the bill if the condition is mint, will get that.

Price he is quoting is $450 approximately.

I love my 7.

I personally think the new phone will not be worth the hassle. Who knows we may be very surprised.

At any rate, I've learned to give it a couple months after the launch of the iPhone, instead of purchasing right away.

The iPhone 7 is starting to appear on discount now. It's had months of debugging and so in my opinion a serious consideration. I've just purchased the 7 with a £100 discount . The sweet spot in my opinion for any new launched iPhone is around January. New launch delays and Christmas demand out of the way.

I'm from India too. The cheapest iPhone 8 will cost at least 80-95k in India. You get a brand new iPhone 7 128GB for 47k on PayTM. That's like USD 730. An awesome price.

Really?

Never bought anything from Paytm, is it really trustworthy?

I've just ordered the 7. In red. Reason being yes I could have waited for a drop in price but knowing my luck they'd drop the red and any 7 storage down to 32 gb only. I really wanted the 128 so wasn't prepared to risk waiting on missing out on not only a limited edition colour but a storage choice that will be missing come September. Oh and I'm unlikely to fill it in the 3 years I plan to keep the thing!!

Yes. PayTM is trust worthy.

For iPhones stick to PayTM. Even on Amazon.in though, you can get a 128GB Matt Black iPhone 7 for around 52k today.
