I plan to place in water just to make sure it's ok. Would hate to be on vacation and brave a pool with it and it break there. Plus, going to Iceland in a few months and happy that I don't need to protect it!

Why do you ask? Touchscreen doesn't work with dripping wet fingers anyway.

I've noticed that my iPhone 7 Plus handles wet fingers on the display much, much better than any of my past iPhones. Yesterday it was pouring rain and my phone and hands were both soaked.

Normally on my 6s Plus it would've been nearly impossible to text or use the screen, but with the 7 Plus it worked perfectly.

Just asking if you people used your iPhone with wet hands after you people washed your hands

Yes. The 7 Plus works fine with wet hands.

You're absolutely right. Tested it and the iPhone 7 touchscreen can now be used wet, unlike the previous iterations.

I can't imagine that prolonged exposure will be good, but I am curious about how these iPhone 7's will age.

Another thing I noticed is that the Touch ID sensor on the 7 works even if your fingers are wet -- or at least significantly better than the Touch ID sensor on the 6s. With the 6s if my fingers or the sensor were wet it wouldn't identify my finger and I'd need to type my passcode. With the 7 Plus the fingerprint sensor worked even when I used it in the shower where my hands/fingers were very wet along with the sensor being wet. It worked perfectly.

As someone who swims a lot I have to disagree with the fingerprint scanner part. I always have to wipe both my finger and home button dry before the home button finger print scanner will unlock my iPhone 7 plus. Granted, it works a little better than my old 6 did. But if I've got water on my fingers, I'm forced to either dry them off or unlock the phone with my passcode on the screen.

used it in the pool this weekend. in and out of water but not submerged for extended periods of time. phone works fine. the speakers sound distorted when there was water in the ports but after blowing them out back to normal.

Hmm, odd. Were your fingers pruney? That might be why it didn't work.

What should we do if do get the iPhone wet ?

Should we turn the phone off ?
You don't have to turn it off. You can keep using it like normal.

The biggest thing to be careful of is making sure it's 100% dry before charging the battery. To be safe, Apple suggests waiting five hours after submersion before charging the phone.

Also, if it is exposed to a liquid other than plain water, make sure you rinse it thoroughly. Salt water, coffee, soda, they can all have a deleterious effect with long-term exposure. Rinse it under tap water, then let it dry thoroughly before charging.
