Went with silver to go naked this time specifically.

No finger prints
Grippy with the glass back
Feels fantastic in the hand

Risky but I’m not compromising this beauty.
I have the silver 8+. What a gorgeous and seductive piece of tech! That glass back is so beautiful.

Mine went into a Torro Italian leather wallet case and a glass screen protector. However I am still debating this as it feel rather nice in the hand and definitely less slippy than my 6 plus could get. Also with this being my first iPhone with the force touch home button and haptic feedback I’ve noticed it feels much nicer with that feedback without the case than with. Decisions!

Anyone using their new iPhone 8/8+ sans a case? I have an old 7 plus Silicone case but with the glass back maybe I can ditch protection and go all natural!
I am going sans case... As I have done with all my previous iPhones 🙂

I already got a deep scratch.
Just dropped the phone down like 10cm on to the end of a lightening cable by accident and it’s got a deepish scratch.
Gutted on the first day as well!
Case it is for me moving forward!

What is the Apple Care price in the US for the iphone 8 plus?
Here in Austria it's 201$ (169€) with todays exchange rate.

1086$ (909€) for the 8 plus with 64GB.

Makes 1288$ (1078€) all together.

I never purchased Apple Care and never needed it since I am always using a case or an alcantara-leather pouch as protection.

Fitbag alcantara leather pouch: it also cleans your iPhone's display/camera lens and back due to the tight fit when you remove it from the "fitbag".

I'll never understand case users. Why use a case? Protecting it from scratches? Why protect it in the first place if you're never going to see and feel the original, beautiful design. It may get dirtier and with scratches if naked, but this way you're truly experiencing the gorgeous design and premium materials of the expensive phone you paid for.

For me, I don’t always agree with Apple design philosophy. Sometimes I feel like their products are made for people that live in an office building in a very controlled environment and very rarely actually use the products they create. So for me, I have to find ways to adapt my types of usage to their products. There are plenty of phones that I have found have better aesthetics to them, but I’m into Apple for the ecosystem of hardware/software, I’m not going to get caught up in nitpicky things here and there, so I’ll buy a case or whatever and adjust, no big deal.

At the end of the day, it’s whatever works for you.

With that said, just now comparing how slippery my iPhone 7 Plus is to the grippy 8 Plus, I may indeed use it without a case. The 7 Plus was the first iPhone I ever used without a screen protector, so I was 1/2 way there, the 8 Plus just brought me full circle! Pretty darn cool Apple!

I'm finding the grip a little better than the aluminum 6, but honestly it's still doesn't feel secure. Even though the back is glass most of my grip is on the sides which are still aluminum. It still feels easy to drop, so I'll put a thin plastic case to add some grip-ability.

It's a shame to cover the beautiful glass case with black plastic, but Apple insists on making thin phones with rounded, smooth sides.

After only a day and a half I’ve decided to ditch the screen protector and the case but I won’t be going completely caseless. Will still have it in a sleeve to keep it clean (hopefully).

I feel this is grippier than the 6 plus I had and also as I’ve bought the 8 (not the 8+) it feels easier to handle. Might take out some form of insurance on it though to be safe!

That’s how I’ve been for a while, but after seeing how scuffed/scratched my 6S Plus is, I wanted to at least prevent that. I don’t use a screen protector since they never apply perfectly for me, always some dust or bubbles or not aligned perfectly. I’ll probably take off the case eventually, but I actually like the color of it and it’s super slim. I was never interested in those gigantic cases.

If the iPhones are indestructable, don't scratch etc...then yeah, you have a perfectly good point there. But they are not, so nah.

The last thing I want is when I drop my phone, I have a spider cracked screen permanently. Or even at the back. That ruins the "gorgeous design".

Jeez, I don't have an 8/+, but those drop test videos are not very promising. Very surprising to see the lack of cases in this thread...

For the record, I'll want to use my X sans case, but we will see how that ends up going.

The plus iPhones are just too awkward to handle without a grippier case that adds a bit of girth for when you're trying to take a photo or the like... standard size is more manageable so yeah probably doable

The 8/8 Plus is pretty grippy with the glass back.

Paid too darn much for my iPhone 8+. Silly not having a case on it to keep it pristine, specially if I want to sell it in a year.

Yeah I guess I can see how glass might be better than slick anodised aluminium, running your finger over the screen on mine feels 'stickier' than doing so to the metal back - my main 'thing' is when you're pinching it on the edges at two corners between two fingers to take a photo, it's so thin it doesn't feel all that secure, which is where the case really helps

I use mines most of the time with a case and while Im at home, i may use it naked. Just my thing, cant leave the house without a case. lol...

The glass back of the iPhone 8 just felt a little too slippery for me. Got an Apple leather case and feels much better. I don't do front screen protectors, have never scratched any of my phone screens in all my years. is it even needed?

check out utomic edge protectors. Naked phone feel with drop protection. Have it on my 7 and love it. Had 2 drops with them on and not a scratch.

To begin with, case a screen protector then without for the last couple of months or so before handing it in next year (upgrade program).

Using the apple dark grey hard rubber case which has a really nice feel to it and is extremely grippy!

I’d just like to make a PSA for the people going caseless: the back glass isn’t replaceable like the 4/4S were. If you break it you’re out $300 for a replacement phone, which is why I personally am not taking the chance.

I am going caseless again this year. I am thinking about maybe getting a skin for the rear.
