RIP plus sized iPhones (with 1080p LCD).

And horizontal home screen and multiple awesome horizontal app layouts. Sadz.

For me, it’s a tie between the 4 and the 7+ for favorite iPhone.

If only they had the slate color from the 5 but glossy like the 7. Jet-slate?

If only they released an SE Plus size model.

Still rocking and love my 7 Plus, but its in dire need of a replacement since the microphone stopped working.

I agree it's odd they scrapped the 8 Plus without an SE Plus, especially when we've seen a lot of rumors indicating an SE Plus was perhaps forthcoming. Personally, I don't understand the obsession with the 6 through 8 chassis, compared to the X to 11 chassis, but there are many folks that I know prefer the former form factor and TouchID. Seems unfortunate that there is no longer a Plus variant of the older chassis for those customers.

Some people prefer TouchID, my father is one of them. He doesn't like the swipe gesture instead of tapping the home button and he doesn't mind the bezels. This is going to be the perfect replacement for his 6s once price start dropping in 1 or 2 years.

SE is $50 cheaper than iPhone 8, it didn't make sense to continue selling it. I wonder if they'll release an SE Plus for people who like the 5.5" display eventually or the Plus size is gone forever.
The XR was the inherent successor to the 8 Plus, considering the price difference was only $50.

Of course, it becomes strange now, when a $399 iPhone SE, $200 cheaper, has a better chip than the $599 XR. And Apple pointed out in your face that the SE has the A13 chip on their website and marketing.

I'm using the 8 right now. I like the home button and TouchID. I can't really justify upgrading from the 8 to new SE, but my wife might want to, coming from her 7 that's still limping along.

Using Apple's compare function for iPhones, the two are exactly the same size. This suggests they're using all the same tooling (which would be a huge savings for them). And the camera has all the same specs (it supports some new modes, but those are software driven by the faster CPU/GPU). That, in turn, suggests the camera placement/size is likely exactly the same. Unless they arbitrarily decided to move the various buttons (to no benefit and at great expense), iPhone 8 cases should fit exactly the same.

That's great news, because it means people can use cases going back to the 7 and those are damn cheap everywhere.

Gonna hold on to my 8+ another year. It certainly isn't slow by any metric.

Hopefully an updated SE+ comes out sometime next fall/winter.

Be the easiest upgrade to date.

I love Touch ID, and yes I've used Face ID, I have an iPad Pro.

I jumped ship from an actual SE to an iPhone 11 back in November last year so this is a no go for me anyway, but reading the specs, I’m super underwhelmed.

It’s literally an iPhone 8 with some buffed internals. The average user will simply not notice any difference.

The problem here is people see the iPhone SE as a ‘small device’ line of products and it’s not at all.

The SE branding is a ‘special edition’ of the old generational design. If the iPhone 12 has radical design changes, expect to see an SE 3rd gen that mirrors the iPhone 11 design.

Even if it’s discontinued, the A11 bionic processor has a long life ahead of it. The 8 is fully loaded in terms of offering wireless charging/True tone/stereo speakers, it’s an excellent by for the money.

Well, I guess its a good thing i upgraded from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone 8 Plus last year.
EDIT: Also, one reason i chose the 8 Plus is i'm one those people that prefers TouchID.

I'm one of those people. TouchID allows my wife and I to add a fingerprint to our daughters phones. The introduction of the new SE is perfect for our family because that means by the time the fall rolls around the iPhone 8 is probably going to be around $250 at carrier and retail stores. Perfect price for a solid device.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. Bigger phone? Face ID.

The way 3D Touch is now.. can't stand it. The way it was originally implemented was so much nicer.

Yeah, the latest major iOS release has ruined the springboard interface experience but for apps that support 3D touch like some games, paint and draw apps and music making apps like GarageBand it still the same and very useful.

You would be wrong then. Many people still prefer touch id and NO notch. I just bought two 8+, one as a spare to hold me over until Apple gets their s**t together and can make a notchless, embedded touch id phone.
Yeah, many people prefer the home button/Touch ID and no notch (myself included). Those are actually the main reasons I chose the 8+ over the XR shortly after Apple's September 10th event.

Farewell to white faces for the silver phones.
And a farewell to white faces for the gold phones (including the cream or champagne looking 8/8+).
