I purposely bought the 8 Plus in stead of the X when it launched. I love it! I am still not a fan of FaceID and my iPhone unlocks instantly when i press my thumb on the home button. I never liked the designs of the 6/6s Plus or 7 Plus. But with the 8 Plus, :apple: finally fixed the ugly antenna lines i so dreaded and put in an amazing true tone LCD. The smooth glass back, the same processor, the lower price and the same (for that time) amazing camera as the X made it an instant buy for me! And i have never used a phone as long as I have used my 8 Plus, normally I bought a new one every 12 months but this beauty has been accompanying me since October 2017 and still going strong!

I hope that leaker guy is correct that :apple: is going to launch a Plus model of the SE, cause that would make a great replacement for my 8 Plus! Otherwise, I will keep this one a little bit longer.

Still cruising along with my iPhone 7+. I could go for a iPhone SE+. I prefer having a home button and no notch at the top. Not into the additional features of the X models. However, I do prefer a large screen.

I use my iPhone for:

- Texting
- Photography
- Accessing the internet
- Email
- Depositing checks
- Phone calls
- Maps with GPS functionality
- Audible audio Books
- Kindle eBooks
- Bible Study
- Checking the weather

I still think the 8 (which I have) is the most beautiful industrial design Apple ever made. That said, I wanted an SE for its smaller size. Since the new SE offers no size advantage, I'm going to hold out to see what the fall lineup will be.

Isn’t that what the iPhone 11 is for? Why so many choices?

I sincerely hope the iPhone SE+ is coming. In the past there have been many software references of new products that have never seen the light of day. I'm afraid the iPhone SE+ will be one of them.

My guess is they feel the XR/iPhone 11 is the best option you can purchase if that's what you want.
But not if you want at least a 1080p display.

Did you look at my link? The code is there for the Plus sized SE.

But by not releasing it now why would they release it with the 12 series? With all the sizes of 12 that are coming a SE Plus would be lost in the options and seem pointless. Also don't they want to price people up when they release the flagships?

To be honest I don't think the SE Plus will see the light of day.

I prefer the design and cost of my iPhone 7+ over the newer iPhones. iPhones with home buttons are easier to unobtrusively access in meetings and classrooms. I know several friends who feel the same way.

This time around, I doubt it.

I think Apple wants to avoid flooding their iPhone lineup as much as possible, so there will be no SE Plus, just the SE to keep it simple.
Problem is if no SE+ and 8+ is dead, there's no more TouchID at that size.

The XR was the inherent successor to the 8 Plus, considering the price difference was only $50.

Of course, it becomes strange now, when a $399 iPhone SE, $200 cheaper, has a better chip than the $599 XR. And Apple pointed out in your face that the SE has the A13 chip on their website and marketing.

How hard is it for people to understand that for many of us with good close vision, the XR is a GARBAGE SCREEN compared to the plus phones? And that ALL of the OLED phones are GARBAGE SCREENS?

I think Apple wants people who want a Plus sized/big screen phone to opt for their more expensive Face-ID iPhones instead like the 11.

The new SE is a standalone product. The last Touch-ID iPhone? Most likely.

By iphone 8, you were a great jumping off point, but now like others before you, you will fade into history.

Many of us with good clear vision would disagree on OLED screens, but YMMV.

Still rocking the 8 plus and will replace the battery this summer and that will give me another 1 year before upgrading.

You would be wrong then. Many people still prefer touch id and NO notch. I just bought two 8+, one as a spare to hold me over until Apple gets their s**t together and can make a notchless, embedded touch id phone.

Currently, I am seeing a lot more iPhone 8 pluses than I am seeing iPhone XRs.

How convenient the battery on my 8-plus is below 80 per cent healthy rate now. And draining a lot faster. Great phone - hoping there are plenty of available replacement batteries.

Using Apple's compare function for iPhones, the two are exactly the same size. This suggests they're using all the same tooling (which would be a huge savings for them). And the camera has all the same specs (it supports some new modes, but those are software driven by the faster CPU/GPU). That, in turn, suggests the camera placement/size is likely exactly the same. Unless they arbitrarily decided to move the various buttons (to no benefit and at great expense), iPhone 8 cases should fit exactly the same.
Totally agree.

It could make sense for them to discontinue the XR (who buys it when the 11 is just another $100?) and replace it with the SE plus at a lower price point.

Imo the price gap is there to make room for the XR's inherent price drop when the iPhone 12 arrives later this year.

My guess for the final lineup this year, it would be
- 2020 SE at $399
- XR at $499
- 11 at $599
- 12 an up from $699

The $100 difference to the XR feels more justified. Right now, the XR doesn't feel like a good deal when it has Inferior chip but cost $200 more than the SE

To me this follows the iPad trend. The buttonless "Pro" devices vs the "SE/Standard" ones that are refreshes of the older molds.

I wonder if we're getting a more square-ish iPad Pro-like design for the iPhone 12. I'd welcome a similar-to-the-4/4s design, but with modern screen sizes, of course.

My 8 plus has been my favorite iPhone Ive ever owned. I won’t be getting rid of it until a notchless, non-OLED, Pwm-free phone of similar resolution (or greater) iphone exsists. Hoping that the 8’s death sentence gets extended to at least 2023 to give mLED time to mature.

Expect some great deals on these devices now Apple has stopped selling them. You can still buy the iPhone X through many carriers still.
I doubt many people were buying iPhone 8 Plus for $549 when XR was $599.
I must admit I was one of the people that did. I halted my upgrade in 2018 to see what the XR was like before I chose which phone to go with. I preferred the iPhone 8+ out of the two despite less than a £100 difference in price. I've never regretted that decision.
