Shocked to see the 8 Plus discontinued without a successor in place, even though we know it is coming.
I guess we will see it at WWDC or the September keynote.
The iPhone 11 starts at $700. The 8 Plus was $550. I suspect the future SE Plus will start at $500. Big price difference.Isn’t that what the iPhone 11 is for? Why so many choices?

But not if you want at least a 1080p display. My guess is they feel the XR/iPhone 11 is the best option you can purchase if that's what you want.
Did you look at my link? The code is there for the Plus sized SE.
I sincerely hope the iPhone SE+ is coming. In the past there have been many software references of new products that have never seen the light of day. I'm afraid the iPhone SE+ will be one of them.
Problem is if no SE+ and 8+ is dead, there's no more TouchID at that size. This time around, I doubt it.
I think Apple wants to avoid flooding their iPhone lineup as much as possible, so there will be no SE Plus, just the SE to keep it simple.
The XR was the inherent successor to the 8 Plus, considering the price difference was only $50.
Of course, it becomes strange now, when a $399 iPhone SE, $200 cheaper, has a better chip than the $599 XR. And Apple pointed out in your face that the SE has the A13 chip on their website and marketing.
I think Apple wants people who want a Plus sized/big screen phone to opt for their more expensive Face-ID iPhones instead like the 11.Problem is if no SE+ and 8+ is dead, there's no more TouchID at that size.
Many of us with good clear vision would disagree on OLED screens, but YMMV.How hard is it for people to understand that for many of us with good close vision, the XR is a GARBAGE SCREEN compared to the plus phones? And that ALL of the OLED phones are GARBAGE SCREENS?
You would be wrong then. Many people still prefer touch id and NO notch. I just bought two 8+, one as a spare to hold me over until Apple gets their s**t together and can make a notchless, embedded touch id phone.
Totally agree.Using Apple's compare function for iPhones, the two are exactly the same size. This suggests they're using all the same tooling (which would be a huge savings for them). And the camera has all the same specs (it supports some new modes, but those are software driven by the faster CPU/GPU). That, in turn, suggests the camera placement/size is likely exactly the same. Unless they arbitrarily decided to move the various buttons (to no benefit and at great expense), iPhone 8 cases should fit exactly the same.
Imo the price gap is there to make room for the XR's inherent price drop when the iPhone 12 arrives later this year.It could make sense for them to discontinue the XR (who buys it when the 11 is just another $100?) and replace it with the SE plus at a lower price point.
In my personal experience I see at least as many iPhone 8+ phones as XRs if not a bit more. Many people like the large full-HD display with the home button and no notch. Not uncommon at all.Currently, I am seeing a lot more iPhone 8 pluses than I am seeing iPhone XRs.
I must admit I was one of the people that did. I halted my upgrade in 2018 to see what the XR was like before I chose which phone to go with. I preferred the iPhone 8+ out of the two despite less than a £100 difference in price. I've never regretted that decision.I doubt many people were buying iPhone 8 Plus for $549 when XR was $599.
