Anyone who will be getting an iPhone 8 - please let me know if fast charging works with the 85Watt USB-C block that comes with the 15-inch Touchbar MBP...

I've been hearing people saying the 85Watt doesn't work on the iPad Pro but does on the 29Watt. However for the iPhone 8/X - Apple's website clearly says it supports the 85Watt brick for USB-C fast-charging...

Can anyone test this and confirm?

If Apple states it, you need not test it.

I just saw a youtube vid here - that claims the 86Watt USB-C (from the 15-inch Touch Bar MBP) doesn't fast-charge - and that the 29Watt USB-C does.

Can anyone confirm this?

I will test tonight with the regular 8.

But I assume the 8/8 Plus behave exactly the same as the 10.5 and 12.9" iPads: the 29W Apple charger provides the full "Fast charge" of 2A x 14.5V, whereas the 61W/87W Apple chargers can only support 18W (2A x 9V) power delivery.

Cool - let me know what you find. If the iPhone 8 does support fast-charge using the 87W - then I'll just use my 87W USB-C 15-inch MBP Touch Bar brick instead of buying ANOTHER new Apple power brick.

I charge my iPhone 8 Plus with the 87W USB-C 15-inch MBP Touch Bar charger and a USB-C Apple cable. Charges super fast.

Just did a quick test and in 15 minutes my phone went from 10% to 38% and after 20 minutes my phone is on 50%. 40 minutes phone is on 85%

Is that quick enough to be considered fast charging?
