I'm still really bummed about apple abandoning Touch ID. It seems like the most "radical" iPhone ever will come with a least one compromise. Not good for a phone that suppose to be the best.

As I have posted before on the forum in the past it's is worth repeating. The entire screen will be a touch ID sensor. I have seen it. It may also explain the more complex screen process. This would allow the capability to sense two or more finger prints to unlock.

If their face recognition tech is as fast and accurate as rumors tell us, I'm fine with it. It still happens often that touch id doesn't work for me because of water, crap on my hands, gloves, etc. I bet a good face recognition option would work more often.

Im like 80% sure Apple has one firm date September 22nd for all phones - however supply will be even more constrained then years past. It just wouldn't seem like Apple to debut all three iPhones and say iPhone 8/8 Plus launches Sept 22, iPhone Edition in October. That means within minutes of online pre-orders expect shipping dates will slip into October. So most people won't have an OLED iPhone in hand until October/November.

I am so excited to see what Apple has to offer, I honestly just want to see what this damn phone is! I could wait an extra couple of weeks, I just want to see what the hype is all about! So excited for Tuesday!

Aaah. What? All reports (one this site and elsewhere) point to the fact that Apple couldn't make it work.

7s for me most likely. I don't think I want to be a first gen guinea pig on this one. especially if its the same processor as a 7s. imagine the amount of processing the 8 will need for all its new tech? Chances are in a year or two it will feel slower then the 7s. Also no Touch ID is something I am not keen on (unless they can really prove the new tech is better)

That's my debate. I'd really like to have the 8 or whatever it's going to be called but this will be an all new design and I'm sure there will be issues. Maybe I'll wait for the next year release or get a one that's released in the later batches.
Work will get me a 7s if I want it so at least I'll have that and can possible wait on replacing my personal phone.

Yet there's still that urge to get one day one

Here we go again, make sure you pre-order, make sure you check the stock of your local Apple Store everyday, make sure you get to your local store as soon as they have stock, rinse and repeat for the next six months plus. Even if people say there's plenty of stock 2-4 months from now, ignore them and buy before they're gone. Marketing 101.

Me too. I'm hoping it will be a surprise and it's still there. I've gotten to used to it and it's so simple. Either way I hope the solution they have really wows us on Tuesday....

I don't know, remember the Airpods launch?

I think what bothers me the most about it is the fact that they just introduced it into the MacBook, and now it's already obsolete. Hope they bring infrared facial recognition to the 2018 MacBooks then.

Seems like every year before product releases we get this news...
- manufacturing or supply problems may lead to shortages or delays.

Also what happens almost every year after the product is released (Dec/Jan)..
- Apple cuts components orders, due to slower than expected sales.
- Apple cuts production: must mean slower sales.

the reality is that there are always problems before releases; and companies are always adjusting their component orders.

I hope the insane price will discourage some Canadian consumers (with our dollar still a bit depressed). I'll be there second 1 of preorders. Can't stand my surfboard 6s Plus anymore.

actually I know from a Chinese source, that that everything goes smoothly. They have a new machines to assemble the devices.

The 7 and 6s launches went very smoothly actually. It wasn't that hard to get a these phones. The last time it was cluster**** was with the 6 (especially the 6 Plus).

how have you seen it?

so far the only demonstration of this technology working was by Qualcomm this year at a trade show, and they already said it's not ready for production yet. Samsung had been rumoured to provide the same technology in the S8, but due to failure of the technology, they had to change to the back fingerprint sensor.

So at this point, there's no manufacturer who is capable of under-screen fingerprint sensors. Could Apple be the first? Possibly, but so far every single rumour regarding this technoloy has stated that it is not coming this generation.
