As I have posted before on the forum in the past it's is worth repeating. The entire screen will be a touch ID sensor. I have seen it. It may also explain the more complex screen process. This would allow the capability to sense two or more finger prints to unlock.

LOL

Maybe you should advise Ming-Chi Kuo, Bloomberg, or WSJ. They're all wrong and only you have the info.

You can really see how suspicious people might think Apple is up to something :D

I mean, how would you get people to buy something clearly overpriced?

First time poster...probable Android convert in a couple weeks. *gulp*

As much as I want the iPhone 8, I'm not sure it'll be worth the trouble of trying to get one when the iPhone 7S (8?) Plus should be easy (and cheaper) to get my hands on. What are my chances with the 8 (Edition/X?) if I'm online the second preorders go live? I don't really want to wait until December or January for a new phone.

Cheers!

where and how have you seen this?

The best strategy for recent iPhone releases (I've bought every iPhone since the 4 on launch day, minus the 7) is to be on Apple's website on the second preorders go live (ideally on two computers at once, or phone+computer), choosing either Apple Store pickups or shipping. I've always gotten the one I wanted that way. Also, be already logged in with your Apple ID ;).

Less than seven days before the Keynote launches and this rumor surfaces attempting to Cause a stir. And every year the iPhone launches as scheduled. There Likely will be a heavy constraint with the OLED model regardless with the demand being high.
And a stock price drop? Coincidence? I wonder when the SEC will get involved with this sort of IMHO pretty blatant stock price manipulation.

I have to say when I hear "manufacturing issues" I get a little concerned about the quality of the product. To put it another way, if they're having problems making the phone, then that does not bode well (at least in my mind) for something that will be defect free

I hope the insane price will discourage some Canadian consumers (with our dollar still a bit depressed). I'll be there second 1 of preorders. Can't stand my surfboard 6s Plus anymore.

The Canadian economy is on a roll. Vancouver and Toronto homeowners have experienced a huge windfall in the past few years with knock on effects in the construction, service, and retail industries. Huge amounts of overseas cash being spent into Canada. I would surprised if customers weren't hyped and ready to buy.

Blah, at least it's super easy to replace an iPhone that has issues, and they always have a bunch of new replacement iPhones only stocked for that purpose.

Nope, I'll still pretend to live in my fantasy world where I'll be able to buy one easily, thank you very much.

So how do I score one of these early? I haven't bought an iPhone in three years so I may as well go all in.

I'm still really bummed about apple abandoning Touch ID. It seems like the most "radical" iPhone ever will come with a least one compromise. Not good for a phone that suppose to be the best.
This just doesn't seem to make any sense. Touch ID can't be replaced by facial recognition, think of when you pay with Apple Pay, hold the phone to the card reader and then authenticate with TouchID. How would you do that with FaceID (can I trade mark that quickly?)? Hold the phone at an angle where it can see your face? Hold to reader, then hold up to authenticate, then back to the reader?

The production problems have led to a setback of "about a month" in Apple's manufacturing timetable, but Apple supplier Foxconn is ramping up development and working to hire new employees.

Seems about the same as other years. But if it is worse than I think we can expect Apple to set a launch date that is past the expected Sep 22 so that it can build up adequate stock for a respectable launch. A repeat of the AW launch with literally no stock available for launch would show Cook to be truly incompetent.

The 7 and 6s launches went very smoothly actually. It wasn't that hard to get a these phones. The last time it was cluster**** was with the 6 (especially the 6 Plus).

My point is what is reported is not what is reality:
(meanwhile, as you mention, everything went rather smooth)

Last year:
Report: Apple’s iPhone 7 launch could experience supply shortages
https://9to5mac.com/2016/08/26/apple-iphone-7-launch-supply-component-shortage/

year before:
iPhone 6s Plus Facing Supply Issues Due to Display Production Bottlenecks
http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-plus-facing-supply-issues-due-to-display-production-bottlenecks/

year before that:
iPhone 6: Apple Confirms Record Pre-Orders And Big Supply Shortage
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordon...rms-record-4-million-pre-orders/#18fae4b264e0

and before that:
iPhone 5C and 5S go on sale with gold in short supply
https://www.theverge.com/2013/9/20/4749888/iphone-5c-5s-begin-sale-in-stores-gold-numbers-limited

you can keep going back...

News agencies need stuff to report on, they exaggerate and twist things to make a story.

And after the product releases, you see another bunch of news saying something about slow-sales or production cuts, order cuts, etc.

Yes, as others have said, this tends to repeat itself every year. That being said, it does feel a little different this year.

Either way, I'm getting a 7S Plus, not going anywhere near this 8, or edition, or ludicrous speed version, or whatever they call it.

Good luck to us all!

Apparently their tech can see your face very well even at an extreme angle, but we'll see.

Gee, this isn't blatant advertising for Apple or anything... ;)
90% of all stories on this website are related to Apple, so I have absolutely no idea what in the hell you're on about. Information about iPhone supply is very important to readers around here.
