iPhone 8 May Make iP7 Irrelevant...

The plethora of iPhone 8 rumors and articles appearing so soon after the iPhone 7 launch is very interesting. Add to that the significance of it being the Tenth Anniversary iPhone and chances are the iPhone 7 will be quite short lived. Easily the most forgotten iPhone, it's a distinction those who are stuck with one will abhor.

Conversely let's consider there's two sides to every story, what's your take on this?

That actually was supposed to happen this year, but a couple of suppliers weren't quite ready.

The iPhone 7 is more of a generalized update, boasting the speakers, Camera and haptic home button. The iPhone 7 is a great device and the Plus model Is the clear winner.

There is no doubt the tenth Anniversry iPhone will be huge, without a doubt. The edge to edge screen, all new casing, possibly intergating the home button into the screen, camera, ect.

I think there's even a chance we'll see iPhone 8 in June as a throwback to earlier days and to further capture the market Samsung lost.

IMO a summer launch for a smartphone makes more sense as phones aren't typically holiday gifts.

Reviting story. But they can't even get out the iPhone 7 plus. Let's not focus on the future quite yet.

This would be a brilliant move on Apples part.
yeah quite brilliant, except that this is exactly how the Samsung got the Note 7 disaster, by rushing out a phone to beat a competitor. Yeah Apple should do the same.

And people should take all this 10th anniversary rumors with a grain of salt. Remember 2011, everyone we would bet a new iPhone with the biggest redesign yet. Instead, we got the 4S.....

But what will Apple do for a 7s? The iPhone 7 was already an "S" upgrade of a current design complete with new color options.

iPhone 7 won't be irrelevant, as we have seen from history there is always a strong demand for older models even with a major design change.

With that said, I did buy a 7 plus this time around with the full expectation that 2017 will be my first time I will upgrade after only one year. We live in exciting times!

I miss Summer iPhone releases. But man if Apple did that a lot of ppl that did the Apple iPhone upgrade plan last month, would be pissed all the way off Lol

I wouldn't be too happy either since I buy in November/December typically so I can get the exact phone I want (Jet Black Plus this year). Done jumping through hoops to get the flagship new model at launch.

I seriously doubt it. That would throw off a lot of folks who would be eligible for their 12-month trade-in in September through AT&T Next, etc.

Pfft. The iPhone 8S will already make the iPhone 8 irrelevant. And if you think that's enough, wait till iPhone 9 is out. Your 8S is already obsolete!

I'll just trade my ancient, obsolete iPhone 7 Plus next year for a brand-spanking new iPhone 8! I feel so used! :D

The 6+ is the forgotten phone. At least the 6S and i7 will be decent performers for a few years.

People seem to be under the impression that the iPhone 8 is going to be special and packed with features because "It's the 10 year anniversary iPhone it needs to be!".

Apple has hard profit margins to maintain. For the sake of argument let's assume that every iPhone costs Apple $200.00 to make and are sold for $650.00. In order for Apple to continue offering the iPhone at this same price point the cost cannot exceed $200.00. This means Apple has to pick and choose 1 or 2 features they have been working on for the new model.

In other words don't expect the iPhone 8 to have a super camera, new screen tech, wireless charging and fingerprint sensor under the glass unless all of these new pieces of hardware cost around $200 or less together.

The iPhone 7 plus for example is $20.00 more expensive than the 6 plus just because Apple added 1 additional camera to it.

I don't think Apple is going to take a financial hit for the sake of sentimental value (10 year anniversary). I may be wrong.
