No it won’t Irrelevant...

It will still be an amazing phone that people will enjoy. The average customer don’t care about getting the latest and greatest. They go with their upgrade cycle.

I think we are entering a new era of compressed upgrade cycles. One year is the new two.
Which is why the iPhone Upgrade Program imo is great. Why worrying about a holding a phone for as long as you can when you can just get a new one on the yearly basis.
I wish Apple has that program worldwide.

That's what makes the 7 - difficult choice to make

It will be blown out the water next year and it's now such a huge price jump above the 6s

Upgrade programmes therefore makes sense this year - but I doubt Apple will prioritise these upgrades above the new buyers, come 2017

iPhone 8 May Make iP7 Irrelevant...

The plethora of iPhone 8 rumors and articles appearing so soon after the iPhone 7 launch is very interesting. Add to that the significance of it being the Tenth Anniversary iPhone and chances are the iPhone 7 will be quite short lived. Easily the most forgotten iPhone, it's a distinction those who are stuck with one will abhor.

Conversely let's consider there's two sides to every story, what's your take on this?

I think the 7 will be just as relevant as the 6S was. They all see a decline in relevance when the new model comes out.

With the Samsung phone recall, I am betting that Apple will be very happy with the 7 sales.

And I'm trying to enjoy to my iPhone 7/7 Plus without thinking about the iPhone 8. So many rumors to keep up with, it's nice to enjoy the new device at hand.

The iPhone 7, while not a huge leap forward, is still a great iPhone and will be relevant for the next few years. Even the 6s is still a contender.

Not worrying about the 8 now. Enjoying my 7+ to no end. The 8 and all the hoopla about it will be here soon enough. While it all sounds good, such a major redesign can also come with problems. Hope Apple does it's homework.

iphone 8 is still two years away, the next iphone will be the 7s

There's always rumours of the next iPhone as soon as a new one is released.
The iPhone 7 won't be made anymore irrelevant than previous iPhones have been when the new one comes out.
Consumers less fussed about having the latest and greatest will still opt for the 6S or the 7 to save money on their monthly bill and I'm sure plenty of 7 owners have taken 24 month contracts and will be happy to keep their 7 until their contract runs out and they can get the 2018 model.
The fact that the next iPhone might be a bigger upgrade than usual really doesn't make the 7 irrelevant.

lol what? my iPhone 7+ is going to rock for years to come, and if I want to upgrade, i can, its not like were excluded from upgrading lol so silly

Unless they're coming up with an interface technology other than screen (ie. holographic projection) and an input system other than onscreen keyboard and Siri, it basically amounts to the same thing. Either way I'll be doing the same things I've been doing on my phone today.

How can a phone that does not exist make a phone that exists irrelevant?

The 8 does sounds great. The OLED screen will be a giant leap ahead in my opinion.
