7s, will look the same, A11 chip, better camera sensor, improved Taptics and true tone LCD display.

All new OLED iPhone will come out in 2018, sorry.

Why are you apologizing? You wouldn't happen to have a source to provide your claim about the OLED iPhone coming out in 2018, would you?

Can someone honestly explain to me why this iPhone wouldn't simply be called an iPhone 7s? Is it because everyone is expecting a completely design overhaul? I've been wondering this forever.

Only Apple really knows but maybe they'll call the OLED model iPhone Pro. So the usual 7s & 7s+ to follow their usual pattern, along with much improved Pro.

If there were to be an iPhone X for example (because of the 10 years), how do they go about the name for the following year? Surely next year they'd want to be having OLED screens on all models (probably not the cheaper SE though). And to me, the top model (if there were 3 like what most are expecting this year) being called Pro makes more sense.

Either way, I just hope I can get my hands on the top model before I go away for Christmas!

Because the rumour is that there will be an iPhone 7s AND a new redesigned model which will obviously have to have its own name.

Just wanted to expand upon your post in that this year is also the 10th anniversary of the release of the original iPhone.

Doesn't Apple usually do a "S" model before the major iPhone releases?

Traditionally in the years past, yes, they have introduced the S model after the launch of that previous version. That's why there are a majority that believe the iPhone will follow suit of the iPhone 7S, versus the actual "iPhone 8."

There won't be a 7s as their major release. They need the iPhone 8 to compete.
Even a release in spring is late considering Samsung releasing its s9 between march and April.
And if they wait until fall 2018 its too late for Apple.

It's the 10th anniversary of the iPhone launch. They are NOT going to blow the PR opportunity.

Why would they?
Because they are Apple
Because they can
Because they have "great products in the pipelines"
Because users will wait in line no matter what they release
Because it will be out of stock no matter what they relase
Because it is "Magical"
Because it is the "best product we have ever designed"
Because it is 3% lighter
Because it is 0.3% thinner
Because it is running iOS 11
Because they have "courage"
Because it is "the best iPhone yet"
Because is is x% faster
Because they did not celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apple with a special edition anything...

Apple masterfully arranges an agiotage in an artificial way. I think that they have everything under control, and they will release their updated models on time, all this for attracting attention, black PR.

From what I've read, Apple in 2017 is launching three iPhones, a 7S, 7S Plus, and an 8, and will be renaming all three so that the 7S and 7S Plus aren't seen as older models (even though they aren't) up against the 8. Apple will offer 3 screen sizes, the 8 being larger than the Plus with a more edgier design and a steeper price tag.

Off topic, the company I work for offers us a credit card where we can convert points into cash as part of their employee recognition program. I don't ever use the card, but I went to see my points one day and it has about $1000 worth. I went ahead and converted the points into cash, so I'm using this to pay for the iPhone 8. It's expected the new iPhone 8 will be expensive, It feels good not to care about the price for once since it's coming from an incentive program at work. Hopefully, I'll earn enough points by Sept. to add Apple Care.

I agree with you.
I agree too. The reason I agree is I believe the majority of people waiting are waiting for the iPhone X, edition, 8.... whatever it's called. If they release it later in the year or even next year it will completely throw off people's upgrade schedule... Apart from the individuals purchasing full price. Personally I don't think the 7s will sell much if the phone is going to look the same. A few tweaks here and there will not be enough to entice people to buy an at that point 4 year design.... Apple really shot themselves in the foot with the 7 by recycling a design that came out in 2014...

You forgot to add: APPLE IS DOOMED! DOOOMED!

Pretty cool list! Let's add:
Because their last anniversary Mac didn't really sell well.

you forgot one;

Because we will simply slap an oled display in the new 2017 iPhone, charge you around $1000 for the base model, call it a day and we (Apple) know that the loyal fanbase will buy this, no matter what.

No they didn't, the iPhone 7 sold very well, even better than the iPhone 6s did last year.

Maybe he means that many of us wouldn't be impressed by a 7s with the same design. Whereas many iPhone 7 buyers could feel fooled when they have an obsolet design after one year and their expensive iPhone is sold as cheap entry version.

That is actually what I meant, thank you for delivering it eloquently lol. I don't really see the 7S with the same design selling very well next the 8/X/edition

Apple could deficate in a bag and it would sell well... Sold well? Sure! However sales for the 7 have slowed and I don't see hope for the 7S selling well with the same design and minor upgrades... Other companies have Apple in their crosshairs, they want those users who are tired of thick bezels, lack of fast charging, wireless charging, etc... Create something beautiful (S8) and people will consider.. Apple has a great product but change needs to happen and let's hope it does.

Why should they celebrate the 40th anniversary of the company with a special-edition product? I mean, the 40th isn't considered a milestone like 10th, 25th, 50th, etc.

iPhone is Apple's cash cow. That they would not recognize that the revolutionized the smartphone industry 10 years ago is highly unlikely. Too much revenue to be made not to launch something.

I feel like Pro is the mostly likely designation for this new model, but who knows?

They could also change their entire naming scheme for iPhones.
