If it turns out that the iPhone 8 has Touch ID on the back of the iPhone like this "leak" shows would/will you still buy it? personally i'm not sure based on those pictures it looks ugly and placing Touch ID on the back i think would be a bad move. I'm not in any way saying that this is real I'm just going off what the article says and the images they show.

What are your thoughts? will you still buy if it has OLED and other rumoured features like wireless charging and so on. Also is this enough of a design change for you?

I've used friend's phones that have the fingerprint scanner on the back and it's annoying for sure... Especially when wanting to unlock it while it's laying on a desk... I would prefer it be on the front no matter what...

throwing in my own "hot rumor":
If the iPhone 8 came with a one-year supply of unicorn dust, but free only for the first year, would you still buy the iPhone 8?

Can you modify your muscle memory, so you can easily use touch ID, regardless of location?
Is that a "deal-breaker?"
(If I had a phone with touchID on the back, I would tend to place it face down)

Absolutely ZERO chance on the unicorn dust. Supplies will most certainly be constrained with the OLED iPhones and new Mac Pro's being in development. I could see them settling for Pixie dust though but with Apple-typical modifications, "Ion-infused Pixie dust" or something of that nature. But most definitely not Unicorn dust. Just not happening this year, not with bean counters like Cook at the helm anyway.

It would be less than ideal, but not a deal breaker.

I personally hope that it's fake and that's not the design but a lot of people were saying the same last year with the 7 plus camera design so I don't know at this point. If they can't put Touch ID into the display I think they should leave it where it is currently.

Nah they definitely won't put it in the back. If they can't get it sorted under the display with this iteration, they'll release the iPhone 7S this year and release a bezeless iPhone the following year when they manage to solve the problem.

If the iPhone 8 is sitting on a desk, it can still be unlocked by Sleep/Wake button + PIN.

Chances are, Apple will implement "3D Touch to wake" or "double tap to wake" if they place Touch ID on the back. It's a non-issue for me.

I think this is what you are talking about. Looks cool to me.No more chunky bezels. i also feel touch id on the back will be stupid. (Will look more like android phone) it will look more cool if they can integrate touch id direct in display

But if they want to eliminate the bezel...

Personally, I like TouchID on the front, as I think most people do, but it wouldn't be that hard to get used to it on the back. As far as I'm concerned that's a much smaller inconvenience than losing the headphone jack!

I would take the bezel over having Touch ID on the back of the phone, it's a silly idea.

Yea that's what I mean, don't get me wrong I'm an Apple fan but the idea of Touch ID on the back is just silly.

Why is it silly, other than not being what you're used to? I prefer it on the front too, but like I said, not a deal breaker, and still not as bad as losing the headphone jack.

It's silly for 2 reasons, 1 the phone lies on its back so it's much easier to have it in the front. 2 people have different sized hands so when they pick up the phone not everyone will be able to reach the Touch ID.

Also it looks stupid. Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to the iPhone 8 but I don't like that design. Plus where is the curved edges that has been rumoured for a while now.

I think that most people pick up their phone when they want to use it anyway. It shouldn't be too hard to place it somewhere on the back that anyone with hands within the normal range of human hand size can reach with a comfortable grip, just like any of the other physical controls on the phone.

This, of course, is just as subjective as his assertion.

For me, I rarely use the headphone jack. I've probably used the lightning port 3x for audio since I preordered my 7.

However, I use TouchID dozens of times every day and have years of muscle memory and habits developed for its location.

People cried when the sleep/wake button was moved from the top to the side.

The same people will adapt to a new location for the Touch ID sensor.

Already used LG and Huawei phones so I'm used to it. It's less convenient unlocking while the phone is on the table, but more convenient pulling out of your pocket.

Absolutely subjective. The first time I said it, I was more explicit about it being my personal opinion. Even so, muscle-memory and habits can be rewritten. My headphones can't learn to work in a lightning port (without a dongle).

it would be nice if they made the Apple Logo the home button since half of us probably have our finger on when we're holding the phone and make the Apple Logo light up

I just don't see Apple putting touch ID on the rear of the iPhone. I agree with what Keysofanxiety stated, Touch ID somehow will be integrated into the display or it will remain a physical touch ID button for another year until it's ready for release for different implementation on the iPhone.
