Definitely strange. Perhaps early on production issues. It's just unusual for Apple to have on uniformity display issues with their iPhones.
Lol they all have it. Every single one, it’s just a matter if you notice it.

Not sure why you find this humorous. Not everyone would know this and or maybe would have a concern if something was wrong with the display. Clearly others do not this either, even on a tech site.
Because I am on phone 5 and they have all been terrible. It’s really quite unbelievable they can get away with this on such a premium product.
Phew - I thought I was the only one having this issue. When I first got the phone at my ISP I spotted the reddish tint at the bottom, was told not to worry - it's true tone etc.. but took it anyway as I was too excited.
After that, kept reading reviews but no one reported uneven display until here today. Lucky I managed to get a replacement at Apple store few days back after convincing them for 1hr I managed to get a replacement. The replacement unit is not as bright, yellowish tint but at least it's uniform. When they had the store one against mine there was a clear difference viewed at an angle.
I returned 3 iMacs in the past because of uneven color and refuse to buy one until they got it right. It's a shame.. hopefully OLED will solve this problem for good.
I say anyone with uneven display hurry and get it replaced.
I returned a few MacBooks with the same issues. One I settled on really wasn’t any better, but I eventually stopped noticing. I hope that’s the case for the phone too.
Some variation of the photos above seems to be very common. I would argue that even a “perfect” screen probably has some degree, however slight, of the issues above. My 8 Plus has the reddish hue on the left but it’s very minor. Most wouldn’t see it.
I completely agree with you. Those who look for imperfections, will find them. Very few and far between have perfect LCD displays. Some LCD displays have more issues than others, but slight imperfections is likely not uncommon either. Most consumers likely don't look for imperfections with their iPhones, contrary to how tech enthusiasts will look for imperfections.
This is why OLED displays will save the hassle......
