Yes, because this is called Mac "RUMORS"

If they consider the fact an on screen button can be made to disappear then it should be called 'desperate Mac Rumors'!

It's hardly front page stop the press news and I'm pretty most people would of suspected they'd copy Androids solution, I don't know anyone following the rumours so far that didn't presume the bottom area would disappear when playing videos etc.

Geez, grumpy enough? It's a separate news-story, you very well could ignore it, your grace. When the rice are half boiled, pour in the fairy detergent.

With a virtual home button, I wonder what the sequence of buttons will be for a "hard reboot" and screen shot...

  1. Post the issue on a forum to first learn that whatever the cause of the need to reboot, it is YOUR and only your (user error) fault.
  2. Offer counterpoint that implies a bug and risk being called a troll or paid Android shill.
  3. Watch others chime in with the same issue, only to be summarily lumped into the .0001% of users that have such issues.
  4. Read 5+ posts that basically say "My phone is working perfectly" (so yours can't be having any such issue). Feel free to privately roll your eyes to that one. Really. They won't know. Then,
  5. Visit an Apple Store
  6. Insert phone in Recycle bin
  7. Buy new phone.
  8. Cheer on "record profits"
  9. Sling around "...but who makes the most profitable phone" in website forums.

;)

I can' t make any sense of that diagram.

It looks like filler graphics to make it appear more 'substantial' when you really have nothing.

The home button functionality is the biggest mystery left for the iPhone 8. Sounds like Touch ID is gone, so all that's left is to figure out how I get home when I'm in the middle of cat videos on Instagram.

The status bar will not show the time because they expect you to buy an Apple Watch.

'The remaining area of the screen would be reserved for an area of virtual buttons, including a home button...'

Hmm, re-sizable Function Area in the UI? ;) Now, take the next step :apple: and make the controls both virtual (as anticipated by Ming-Chi Kuo), and contextual ala MacBook Pro TouchBar. :)

.... AssistiveTouch then with just one button - Home. IMG_0731.PNG
Ok, you cant scale it, but it's fun - especially when your home button is broken. Feels like your in the future with this news.

It'd be nice if they ditched the signal indicator (because they're required to show the carrier name) in favor of a clock. Maybe the signal strength could fade in periodically along with batter percentage:

I like the idea of having the nav bar at the bottom (more so because I hate the iOS 11 nav bar where the edit buttons aren't symmetrical with the title). I also don't think the cell service name is that important either, It doesn't need to be up there constantly. I'd rather have the wifi name up there, or something else that is more likely to change constantly.

Hard reboot can use sleep/wake and a volume button. There's no need for a fully hardware screenshot button, can still use sleep/wake and virtual home.

Good point. They will probably move the time to the bottom "peripheral" area.

Never going to happen. Carriers are too vain and I'm pretty sure it's their requirement that the carrier name is displayed. They always want you to know who you're getting service from, and it comes in very handy to know when you're roaming.

It was an opinion on an internet forum, you didn't have to read it and then quote it and reply to it...

Haha brilliant..

They need to dump the carrier name and battery icon. If I have the % turned on, I don't need to see the icon. Can't stand that. Doubt they'll get rid of the carrier name since that's an agreement with the carriers themselves. However, they could put icons up there that indicates what carrier you use. All major carriers have small enough logos.

Firstly the scales portrayed in these drawings are completely different to the photos of the apparent mock up devices, in those the iPhone 8 is much bigger then the iPhone 7.

Huh, must have missed your post the first time, yeah, I was thinking the same thing - compared to the physical mockups, I like this a lot less.

Sooo.....they removed the chin on the hardware only to add the chin in software, so what's the great gain from this again?
