OP, Personally I agree but I sort of doubt that apple will release a quadcore and LTE phone. That would make the battery life horrible IMO.

The first gen was simply "iPhone"

People started calling it that and it stuck. It has a 2G radio, so the name is logical, although not what Apple called it.

Why on earth would they name the phone "A6" when that's the complete opposite of they're past naming scheme? It makes no sense. A# is reserved for their chips.

Well it depends.

It could be the iPhone HD if they put emphasis on an updated retina display. It could be called the iPhone Air if they decide to market it as the thinnest phone ever. It could be called the iPhone AI if they upgrade Siri and market that.

It all depends on if Apple give the new iPhone a killer feature. If they don't put emphasis on anything, then yes, they may very well just call it the iPhone 5.

To me I think the 6 is one of the last names it be. I'd venture to guess LTE or hd or some other tech or the 5.

If I google iPhone 5 all I get is rumored specs of the next iPhone not details on the 4s. And I dont think anyone is confused about thinking the 4s is the 5 or something like that.

This is just my opinion I'm not highly invested into it either. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm looking more forward to the name now then the specs lol.

I blame the media. They should never use a number to describe the next generation iPhone. They'll have you waiting for the iPhone 5 way into 2020.
