If voting with our wallets worked as people suggest it does, trillion dollar companies wouldn't exist at all. Who votes to be overcharged?

Overcharged?

I pay for things that I deem provide me with value. Do you feel that companies should not make a profit for providing things people actually want?

Is apple gear expensive? Yes, but so is my time. I especially value my own personal time, which is far less available to me (fewer days) than my work hourly rate.

On balance apple stuff saves me a heap of time both at work and at home vs. the alternatives. If there was alternative that worked better for me, I would buy it. But there's not, so I don't. Plenty of other Apple customers feel the same way.

If it Apple was overcharging like you seem to think they are, another more agile, hungrier company would eat their lunch. But they haven't.

The fact that trillion dollar companies exist is just scale, currency devaluation and stock market bubble. R&D, and high end hardware manufacturing and support is not cheap.

You are being overcharged. You're just in the denial stage of grief, and seemingly don't understand how market forces work.

Edit: My market forces comment was related to your comment about another company eating Apple's lunch. Your comments related to Apple's three trillion valuation are valid, but I could have just quoted quarterly earnings to make the same point and exclude those factors.

Another company displacing Apple would need a complete form factor shift, not just some random company emerging as a better Apple. Apple's ecosystem orbiting the iPhone is too entrenched otherwise. Just like how Microsoft can dogfood Windows 11 on everyone with seemingly no consequence. Why can't another company, let's call them Apple, displace Microsoft in the desktop computer space when Microsoft seems more interested in data harvesting than making the best desktop operating system experience? If only a company's success was actually proof that they aren't engaged in monopolistic and anti-consumer behaviour. I'd love to live in that world, if it were real.

If you're ok with being overcharged because you think it's the best option, despite the overcharge, that's one thing. At least that viewpoint acknowledges the situation. Denying that you're being overcharged is something completely different.

So how was removing ports on Mac doing these days? Last time I checked they put them back.
All I need is a single port in my MBP. One cable to charge, and at the same time connect multiple external screens, 10g networking, you name it.

But we aren’t talking about a Mac. We are talking about the iPhone.

How typical.

What makes you think I am being “over charged”.

Please be specific.
