With both Air and MagSafe battery at 100%, it uses the Air until its battery is 90%. Then it starts using the MagSafe battery. The Air’s battery stayed at 90% until the MagSafe battery was depleted.

Good to know. That might be a nice option for when I travel (as opposed to letting phone battery deplete and then using the MagSafe battery to try to top it up).

Still trying to decide about returning the Air. Snagged a 17PM to cross test. PM battery lasted a long time to 4% with moderate use.

@Honey_crisp quick update. deleted the Tesla app outright just to test. Better day today, though still not great.

Took off charge at 5:20am, light / casual use type of day around home. 9.5 hours into the day I'm at 50%. Much better than before, though SOT 1:40.

Still can't imagine getting 6-8 hours SOT in a day like many people have posted. Though to be honest I'm not expecting crazy all day battery life with heavy use. I'm happy to get through a day where I can top up here and there if needed. Trade off I'm willing to make if needed. But this week I'm going to swap it and see if there's difference with a new device.

Thanks for trying and sharing the update! Definitely agree with exchanging it so you know for sure that it’s not your unit. Also gives you another 14 days to test if you do a return and buy in separate transactions.

That said I do think Adaptive Power (once it kicks in after 7 days) and further optimization with iOS26 updates should improve battery life if you end up sticking with the Air.

Agreed. It's funny, today I installed the Tesla app back just to try to compare to yesterday's usage. Forgot how at initial launch it asks not just for location permission but also "Nearby Interactions" (using UWB) and "Motion and Fitness" (I imagine for being able to track motion relative to vehicle?). Either way, seems they do have several types of things running in the background.

Also, FWIW, today I have been using it, and not too terrible with battery life overall. Honestly curious how the replacement device does battery wise.

100-0 using only cellular for comparison and.. its essentially the same as using wifi for me?
usage is pretty much exactly the same so that's interesting, I know the C1X is supposed to help but I didn't realize it would do so much 🙂‍↕️

I have my return request scheduled for collection on Thursday.
Phone was left on low power mode overnight, not touched once from 6pm yesterday to when I’ve just woke up now (left it at home whilst working nights) and it’s used 5% battery with 2m screen time on low power mode

Apple have checked it remotely and said diagnostics look good

So a heavy usage day for me today. Combination of WiFi and 5G. The usual scrolling safari, socials, and hour of YouTube, music playing during a 90 minute workout. 89% battery used today with 8 hours 32 mins of screen time.

Phone wasn’t used at all whilst it was charging overnight. Mixture of data and WiFi today, drove back from a break away which took about two and a half hours. Quite a lot of Safari, as well as YouTube, Instagram, looking at photos, etc. I’m not a really heavy phone user at all, although I have been pushing the Air more since I got it last Tuesday - one, because I love using this phone, and two, because I wanted to see what it was capable of.

Really impressed with 7+ hours SOT with 10% left. Now I know I won’t have any concerns at all most days. Although I do have the MagSafe battery pack for some upcoming holidays where I’ll be shooting videos, taking pictures, using more data, etc.

First day without something to download or similar since Air arrival. Two fast charge while in car for home-work trips.

I’m satisfied.

After some messing about with my original Air and a 17 Pro, I decided that the Air is the best device & got my new one this week.

Very happy to be holding one again! I should’ve kept the first one I got but it had a gap between the screen and the metal frame in the top left and was accumulating dust etc.

Yesterday was the first full day after setup, with the ongoing device setup message showing until the evening.

Mix of WiFi & 4/5G & I have always enabled low power mode while I’m asleep with all iPhones.

Currently at 29 hours.

Casual usage, minor camera usage, no video recording.

At least as good as my 16 Pro regular.

I did get an Apple MagSafe Air battery, mainly because it’s neat. I still have my perfectly functioning original Apple MagSafe battery lol.

WOW. This almost feels like it should be even more impossible than the thinness and lightness, paired with sturdiness, of the phone itself…

Question: I am currently charging to 90% and usually finish the day slightly less than 20%. Would it be smarter to charge to 95% to hopefully avoid going under 20%?

I am satisfied with the Air’s battery life, just trying to get things optimized for long-term battery health.

I try and avoid getting to 20% or less & so far I’ve never managed to get the battery that low in a full day from morning to bedtime.

I mainly charge mine to 95% and can end the day between 35-40% and go into the next day before charging when I wake up, I could possibly even lower the limit to 90% for my usage.

Yesterday I charged to 100% as I knew I’d be away from a charger all day, it wasn’t necessary as I went to bed with 40% battery left.

Very happy with the Air’s battery life, it punches well above its weight with the battery capacity.
