lol, my transition is well documented…16PM to AIR…best switch possible..never going back to PM..AIR or fold from here on out….. to be honest with you I was able to hold the phones in my hand before Friday and the 17 Pro Max orange might be the ugliest and heaviest phone I’ve ever seen…. if they had not had the AIR and I went in there to compare the 16 promax to the 17 promax I would’ve kept my 16PM.

16 Pro Max to Air.

I knew very clearly the 'shortcomings' of the Air and taking an objective look at it, none of them really matter to me.

I was in a cycle of getting the pro phones as I preferred the premium feel and materials and everything else I rarely used.

The Pros are really diverging off into genuine 'pro' territory now and we are seeing Hollywood movies increasingly shot on the iPhone as 28 Years Later was recently.
This just made me realise that Ill never really use those features and things like a single camera (im just a point press photographer anyway) and single speaker (I dont watch movies etc on my phone) were wholly irrelevant.

There was a lot of comment on the battery life but its early days - today is really day one from 100% and ive been using the phone for 2.5 hours and its on 90%. I dont see how its going to be a problem frankly.

One thing I would like to add, is my friend got the 17 pro max and there was not the slightest hint of FOMO from me and my new Air. I actually find the pro max rather ugly, very utilitarian in design (for those pro movie makers) and baffling that its now Aluminium again so its lost the premium materials finish that attracted me in the first place. When you hold it there is a very cheap feel to its construction and its nothing near as nice as the air is.

Happy to leave the pro behind this time.

16PM to Air. Still getting used to the smaller screen. But it’s a welcome change. The Pro feels too small the PM feels too big this is a good middle ground.
Welcome the weight and carrying it around you no longer feel the thump of the promax in your pocket.
It’s great. Hopefully they figure out to add more cameras next year but it’s fine. I take 90% of my pics and vids on 1x.
Battery - ran it down to the red yesterday setting it up. Will see how it does today from 100%.

Good to hear I can’t wait to get my air. I held my wife’s 17 pro and it didn’t really wow me. I can’t even imagine liking the thicker and heavier pro max when I’ve been hoping they go thinner for a while now. She’s a content creator and I’m terrible at taking photos. The air will be a welcome change for me! For years I’ve always got the best iPhone and upgraded yearly but this year just didn’t feel the same type of excitement for the pm.

so far I am seeing more Pro Max switchers. For them, the ergonomic transition is much easier compared to Pro (6,3 inch) switchers.
Sometimes I feel the Air is a tad to wide
I’m experiencing this too. Granted I had issues with my thumb joint. I preordered the 17 pro but then also picked up the air in store to decide between the two. One hand thumb typing with the air is just that slight bit of a stretch to be a little uncomfortable on my thumb, despite everything else about the phone being a delight

Switched from the 16P, enjoying the form factor and appreciating the slightly larger font size.
100% agree.

Loving the lighter, thinner form factor making it much easier to manipulate with my arthritic hands than my 16 Pro.

I think the Air will do well on low performance tasks (which is most to be fair) and absolutely get slaughtered by fast core tasks. Kind of what others are already starting to see.
Yes, but that's me - very simple user - almost like a dumb flip phone user.

I love my Air - has everything I wanted - light, thin and easy to use for old hands and eyes (yes, I am a boomer).

If I need power, I'd hop onto my Mac Studio w/32GB and dual 27" displays and slaughter my iPhone, Macbook or iPad I have.

I think it's a little early for folks to be celebrating the battery life on the Air.

Apple didn't decide to bring back the MagSafe battery pack (and only for the Air) just for funsies.

Even if there are no efficiency changes from the 16 series the Air only has a roughly 12% smaller battery than the 16 or the 16 Pro which seems to be in the ballpark for most of the battery tests we've seen (and what I've seen in my first 24 hours as well).

Based on my limited use - 1-2 hours per day, I'd say I am safe with the battery life on my Air.

To be fair, I will let it optimize over the next couple of days to see what the battery life is compared to my 16 Pro during the work week.

I did buy the Magsafe Air battery but I may return it if the battery life is sufficient (all day battery life that Apple touted).....

I still have 13 days to try it out and can always switch back to my 16 Pro...
