I think you missed the point. I just tried balancing my iPhone Air on my finger, placing my finger across the middle of the back. It balances perfectly, which means the top and bottom halves are essentially the same weight.

I had a 16 Pro previously and the Air gets the same battery life as that phone.
You should stop now, you are making yourself look really bad. Can you show me on the doll where the Iphone Air hurt you?

Yeah, clearly, as it's sitting next to me. You can see multiple owners reporting the same. I have consistently praised the Air and said it is the best iphone I have owned. That doesn't change my experience with the battery.
That's not the Air's fault. You need to find out what app/s have gone rogue on the phone. I can easily get 8 hours of SoT with my Air. Pretty much the only time I don't hit that kind of battery life is if I have really really really bad cell signal. Its probably your apps.

I picked up a barely-used Air a little over a month ago and, coming from a 15 pro/13 mini/11 pro/8/etc it's easily my favorite phone to date. I always hated carrying heavy phones in my pocket, and my girlfriend's 17 pro looks and feels like a brick next to this thing.
I do miss the ultrawide as I like taking macros (practically, they help me read tiny print), but the other tradeoffs don't really bother me. I'm not a heavy user so I usually end the day with ~50% power. To me it feels like a branch from the iphone 8 era where phones stayed light and prioritized build quality and screen over multiple cameras and heavy batteries I don't need.
Bring on the Air 2, and if it has a UW camera I'll be very tempted to upgrade.

It can be very useful in certain professions. I work in design, and I miss it for taking pictures of rooms and spaces.

It's nice to be able to just zoom out instead of step back for certain photos.
I bought a phone on launch day in 2007 and a new one every year since, all Pros since those started. The Air is the best phone of I have owned.
I have other Apple equipment in my life, so I don't need the phone to do everything, so the camera, mono speaker, and other drawbacks don't apply.
Also, I genuinely don't understand the need for 2 day battery life for most people. I am never more than an arm's length away from a charger nearly 24hrs a day. Charging pad in the car, charging stand at night, charging stand at my desk at work, even economy seats for United have built in chargers now. I have the extra battery, but if I just put the phone where it goes naturally, I never think about battery. As far as I'm concerned it's a solved problem with the life I lead, and I would guess that a lot of people are similarly placed.

Do you have some kind of app(s) running in the background eating up your battery? Especially location services. I have all of mine set to “while using” except Weather which is always. Or are you in a location with poor cellular reception?
There are certain spots I’ll drive through where I notice my phone gets pretty hot but I’m not entirely sure why. Probably cellular. But running wireless CarPlay using Apple Maps GPS and playing Apple Music, my 30-minute drive home from work can eat about 5% battery on good days, or like 10-15% randomly on bad days, just haven’t figured out why. I think it could be social media. When I make a habit of force closing Facebook and Instagram when I’m done looking, it’s usually fine afterward. I think also The Weather Channel can get it cooking as well. Can be annoying, but I accept the trade-off solely for the amazing form factor.

I just meant the weight distribution. It’s not “top heavy” - it’s surprisingly incredibly balanced. But in usage, since it’s taller than say a regular or Pro (or especially a mini), I think I can see what you mean how it might feel that way in your hand during usage if you’re used to a smaller phone.

Heat is definitely a contributing factor. Social media seems to be a big drain. Like you, form factor is the reason I love the phone so much. I take the trade off, and I can always find a charge for 30 mins.
I probably need to do a deep dive and see what apps are constantly running, but I also don't like to micro manage those things.

Same here. The only time I “close” an app is if it’s frozen or somehow otherwise broken. Otherwise I let the OS do its thing. But the recent random heat has been perplexing me so I’ve been trying to narrow it down. It’s tough to figure it out because I don’t change my usage day-to-day. But I do remember Facebook giving me some problems over the years after random app updates, then it gets fixed a couple weeks later, so that was my first thought.

For me the Air is the best iPhone I've ever owned. Every time I pick up an 17 it feels antiquated to me. I could never go back to a heavy form factor. Do I wish the battery life was a little longer? sure. But not enough to carry around a heavier phone. for my use, the Air works.

Is there anything that would push current Air users to get the Air 2? Would a second camera or 10% battery increase move the needle? I am trying to think if there is anything that would make me feel the need to upgrade.

Yeah I'll be upgrading. One would have to assume that the next chip could be more efficient, and that in and of itself may decrease battery consumption. But a big factor for me would be if they could add back the wide lens. but that being said I stick to what I said, if it were to get noticeably heavier or thicker I would not be interested.

I'm (almost) a year in with mine, and I still love it. But I'm one of those users who's not glued to his screen all day.
The A20 chip and LTPO+ display rumored in the iPhone Air 2 are expected to improve energy efficiency by at least 10%. Combined with a rumored 10% increase in battery capacity from silicon-anode technology, total battery life could see an overall boost of at least 20%.

My iPhone Air’s Action button doesn’t work reliably. I have it set to open the camera because it’s easy to reach. Two or three times a day, pressing the Action button does nothing; instead, a message appears asking me to hold the button, even though it has already been held down for several seconds. It is completely rubbish hardware or software, and the staff in the Apple Store told me there was nothing they could do. 🙄
Considering Apple has reportedly had to rearrange internal components to get an ultra wide camera in there for the Air 2. There’s no way they are getting a telephoto in there too.
It’s actually selling steadily still in the UK judging by numbers on Amazon & eBay.
I’d argue if any device was unusable now it’s the Pro Max models they’ve got so big and heavy you might as well carry a brick about with you.

Both of those would get me to upgrade. Though I would prefer more zoom for concerts rather than a wide angle lens I would never use.
Maybe even the speaker as well, but that’s not a dealbreaker. I find it to be fine enough.
I just don’t want them to start slowly increasing the thickness like they’ve been doing with the Pros. Keep the Air form factor exactly how it is!
