Do people really use speakers? When you do everyone gives you the look of annoyance. It’s seen as rude to be blasting. You’re sort of expected to have ear pods, headphones, etc.

I am not talking about using the speakers outside. What about your own place or just sharing the audio with some people around you?

I think the niche of people who use the speaker for audio calls in their own space to be even smaller than the niche of people who like the iPhone Air.

And you think this because? Do you have any form of data to back it up? Just observing your own circle does not count, as it cannot possibly represent around 1.5 billion iPhone users worldwide.

We have four models don't we - the Air, Regular, Pro and Se - everything else is just spec differences that give users choice. I think introducing the fold will add the complexity across product lines and blur between iPad and iPhone.

Well, the price is a big factor. Unfolded Fold is rumoured to cost at around 2K and to have a 7.7” screen. iPad Mini has a 7.7” screen and sells for 499$, which is 25% of those 2K. Even if you spice it up with more storage (256GB) and add Cellular to it, effectively turning it into an iPhone, even then it is still 749$ vs 2K. So I would not worry about Fold getting into iPad territory too much yet.

Was expecting to see an additional camera. If it is a minor update, then it won't happen. Possible that the Fall launch schedule never changed and in 2026 it will be a minor update with a new chip and 2027 seeing an extra camera/lens with new chip. I would like to see telephoto lens but only ultra wide lens might be possible with the thin design. Don't know if the price will drop by $100 as rumored.

I don't care what the peanut gallery on MR thinks or says. I really like using my iPhone Air. I have 2 (one persona and one for work). If Air 2 happens, I might upgrade depending on what is offered. Otherwise, I am happy as I am.
As a respected member of the Peanut Gallery I have nothing useful to say.
Oh, now I get your point. 🤭

It was too many compromises on the 1st Gen Air for me ao I switched back to a Pro Max. The Battery 🪫 in the Air depleted way too fast for me and I would have to charge it just to keep it from dying on me. Also didn’t want to have to by a $100 Apple battery 🔋 pack just to make the phone last all day. With thr 17 pro max thr battery last all day and then some without a battery pack.

I guess. I never used speakers. No need. Better sound inside your ear. Plus, most live with other people inside anyway so the question still stands.

Has to be a Telephoto, I can think of no practice use cases for an Ultrawide. Just give me a secondary telephoto lens and better battery life, I'll be happy to upgrade
Disagree… I use the ultra-wide all the time, because sometimes I am just too close to the subject and cannot get back further…

Without a missing telephoto, you can still take the same shots, even though it could have been a bit better with a telephoto (which isn‘t guaranteed. There‘s a reason the phone sometimes defaults back to the main lens even with zoomed photos, depending on the lighting situation)

I still think the iPhone Air--if it gets a minor upgrade--may get one that could be much more significant: a change to a carbon-silicon internal battery. That means the battery storage capacity goes from 3,149 milliamp-hours to 4,100 milliamp-hours. Such a change could increase the battery life per charge by 50% or more.

Is a lack of battery life holding back buyers?

I just think it's too expensive and a poor value compared to the normal 17 (to those shopping these I mean).

I really think it needs to be priced the same as the 17 and folks can choose between them based upon specific feature tradeoffs.

The battery life is a major issue. Having to recharge your phone on a fairly frequent basis is a big downside of the iPhone Air. That's why going to a 4,100 mAh silicon-carbon battery is such a good idea.

Yeah the battery 🪫 on the iPhone Air was depleting very fast and I had to return it for a 17 Pro Max which has all day battery 🔋 life. The Air 2 or 3 will have to have silicone carbon battery technology in order for me to consider buying it. All day battery life is the most important for me and 40 watt fast charging as well which the iPhone Air just doesn’t have.

I see.
I didn't realize it was a big issue.

I thought I kept reading from happy Air owners here how that was totally overblown?

All fine updates but the lack of a second speaker for louder sound and stereo output is still a dealbreaker
This is the dealbreaker for me too… I’d buy it tomorrow if it had stereo sound. Two reasons: 1) I like to listen to music and watch videos on my phone speakers in certain situations, 2) I work from home and will often take conference calls on my phone. If all I have is a single mono speaker with muffled audio, it just won’t work.

genuine question - have you heard an iPhone Air?

As an owner of one... I have to say that the sound quality is fine - I dont know where you get the idea that it is somehow 'muffled' or that a phone with two speakers somehow makes sound 'not muffled'

But, I can assure you that the sound is fine and doesnt have any of the problems you seem to think it does.

Personally speaking, I do take FaceTime calls over speaker, and I watch YouTube videos and I cant notice any difference between the air and my old 16 pro max.

The only use case which I certainly concede could be an issue is where someone is watching stereo separated video content in landscape mode - but thats probably movie or TV show level audio mixes and to be honest theres no way id watch a movie or tv show on an iPhone screen and even if I did theres no way id want to do so even if at home alone and not bothering anyone else without using AirPods for decent sound.

I concur. It's perfectly fine. It even gets louder than you'd reasonably expect.
