Can your HomePod check messages?Yes. My HomePod cannot access things like my contacts. Says "I'm sorry, <name> is not in your contacts" when same command to phone works correctly and worked with HomePod prior to beta installation.

Same here. Can your HomePod check messages? Mine can’t.Funnily enough, that’s a problem I noticed with mine yesterday. My HomePod is on the latest 13 release but my iPhone is on iOS 14 latest public beta and I’ve got the same problem in that the HP can’t find any contacts. To be expected though I guess.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your question. Can your HomePod check messages?
Your HomePod is running version 13.4.8?Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your question.
Yes, I just checked and it reads messages. I have updated one version of beta since you asked, though. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Your HomePod is running version 13.4.8?
I did a reset yesterday and the checking of messages worked twice then back to “just a sec... working on it...”
I get that also. Thanks for confirming.Yes it is.
But strangely enough, I just tried to get it to read messages and it failed this time.
I know it heard me, as the lights activated. No response and then lights went off.
Is anyone able to check messages on HomePod (13.4.8) with iPhone on version 14.0.1? I still can’t.
Mine is doing same now.Nope. My HomePod says nothing when I ask.
Could this perhaps be related to what's being discussed in another thread dealing with Siri?
Siri requires phone to be unlocked
Siri now requires the phone to be unlocked to have her read text messages. On IOS 13 I was able to use my phone Hands Free to read and reply to text messages while driving. I would say "Hey Siri", "Read my last text message" with the phone locked and Siri would read my last text message. Now...forums.macrumors.com
I also updated to the beta and it worked fine for a bit but then got even worse.Right I’ve just updated to the developer beta of 14.2 for my HomePod. It now reads out my messages from my phone perfectly. There is hope...
I also updated to the beta and it worked fine for a bit but then got even worse.
Also, Philips Hue Siri commands don’t work well will this beta.
Indeed the HomePod 4.2 beta. iPhone is running 14.0.1I thought those issues are with iOS 14.2 beta 3 for the iPhone? I’m referring to the HomePod beta software.
Or have I got my wires crossed?
