Almost as if private consumers and classified military systems have different use cases and requirements.

But, they both can benefit from the same underlying "secure" solution. Why have two different (software wise) devices, when it shares the same needs? Both get what they need in the end. And if you want "Open". Then buy an open device.

Unix in general is pretty secure, and so is Linux or MacOS, for that matter. Pegasus has shown that the iPhone isn't invulnerable, as have multiple scam apps that have made it onto the App Store.

Yes it's always a trade off but I think there's plenty of examples that show that open and secure are not mutually exclusive.
