Good. More of a chance for me to be able to pick up a watch on day one.

Most teens can't afford the $999 and $4999 price tags for the stainless steel and solid 18K gold versions anyway and most adults probably won't want the tacky pink/blue/green Sport models.

Few teens probably even wear watches.

This. The iPhone killed the watch and it'll take some time for the :apple:Watch to reverse this once they see the benefits.

It makes sense that the watches will take a bit of time to catch on. How many people bought the first iphone? At $600? It couldn't even send picture messages.

This is the version that Apple uses to get new hardware out there, prove their manufacturing and design techniques, and form a solid foundation. It won't be a blockbuster the first year.

Surprised by those windows numbers TBH. Surface Pro 3 effect? Or cheap 8" tablets?

Me too

My 16 year old sister's iPhone 5 contract just ran out, she was going to get the iPhone 6 for the bigger screen, but thought it was really ugly. Ended up getting a Sony Xperia. Her friends are doing the same. (Small minority I know, but I was a little shocked when she told me this.)

I currently have an iPhone 4 and at the time thought the iPhone 6 leaks must have been some kind of misdirection, thinking that surely the new phone would be nicer to look at. So when it was unveiled I looked at it and decided Apple are just taking the piss; it would cost me $1000 (AUD) to get a 64GB model. I now have an Xperia Z3C on order. Will be interesting to see how it goes. :)

Nobody wants that ugly watch. Sorry, but its hideous.

Anyway it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years in terms of sales now that Google is basically forcing phone makers to produce much higher quality builds.

Be sure to get back to us when you've splashed out the money on your new iWatch. You can tell us about all the problems so we dont have to spend the money.

And yet it willbe the early adopters that will pave the way for the herd to eventually follow. Why hate?

Let's be honest, it's probably seen as Watches are for old people.

Your old uncle Joe wears a watch, ever since you can remember, and dad wears a watch sometimes.

I'm a cool kid, Have my iPhone, and my iPad at home, Don't need to wear some old folks device strapped to my wrist.

Tiny screen, games poor, can't chat to my mates and post my tweets etc easily, can't see the point.

Keep it old folks. :)

Anecdotally, it seems that every teen I know has or wants an iPhone so I'm not too surprised. As far as Apple Watch goes, I'm not surprised that teens aren't too interested. They've never really worn or needed a watch and so far Apple hasn't really told us why we need one. All they did was show off a bunch of features, many of which were better done on the phone itself (look at photos, get directions.)

I am interested in the watch for it being an accessory to the iPhone, mainly for notifications, but I can see why few other people are interested.

I'm just gonna pick at one of the dumbest thing you just said here mister cool kid.
Do you seriously expect people to buy a watch to play games on it?

Do you seriously expect people to buy a watch to play games on it?

Let me answer that in two ways:

A: No, I don't expect people will buy a watch to play games on it.
B: Yes, I expect games will be written and people will play games on it.

You really don't expect to see Angry Birds for Watch?

I'm not commenting on practicality, but if a dev can write a game, you can be sure games will be written, no matter how silly that may sound.
They will just have to work out how to use the given screen space that's all.

Hey! Who the **** told you you could speak for everyone? I want one and I think it looks awesome! And no that's not the Apple fanboy inside me speaking. Although... I'm never really sure. Maybe my Apple fanboy is the only voice I have :D

Analysts… *sigh* *facepalm*

Teens and watches… really? When was the last time you saw a teen wearing a watch? There are very few of them.

apple watch

Well for me i will be getting the apple watch the sport model 42mm in space grey. i am a cyclist and when out on my 70mi rides, when calls notifications are coming in i of to stop or take out my phone wile riding. Which made it very uncomfortable even dangers to do. with the apple watch all i have do raise my hand to see who is calling etc. I have being waiting for something like this for a long time.

Let's be honest, if I were a young kid watching an Apple keynote.

There's that old grey haired guy, sheesh he must be ancient who's running the place, and the designer from England. You know, the old fat guy.

:D

When I was young young sheesh 30 seemed like getting old
Apple's not exactly teeming with fresh dynamic blood on stage showing off the cool products. Just a load of old guys mostly.

(If I was looking at from my viewpoint a few! years ago)

Apple Watch -- tepid at best

I can't imagine the Apple Watch being useful. It is true that multi-function watches are a pain to use for anything but telling time but Apple blew the watch for me. I wear a watch 24 x 7 including in the shower and swimming. I talk mine off once every two years to change the battery. It cost me $50, 10 years ago. I've spent more on replacing the watch band than on the watch.

Its a good thing for apple they did it BEFORE it was announced, if they had done it later then it would have been prob 9% lol

His name is Jonathan Ive.

How many times can one read the guy's name and still add an 's'?

 Yes, sorry, it happens, I know how he spells his name, yet I must subconsciously lack respect for Mr. Ive. I fixed it.

Apple Watch

Teens can't afford an Apple Watch. Parents would have to pay and I think most probably stop at paying for the phone and the iPad (which many kids now use in schools).

Pretty much explains half the threads being created on MR, especially in the iPhone section.

$400 watch that I still need my mega iPhone 6+ to run with? No thank you, I'll peek at the Apple watch 2 when that comes out. Everyone knows that the first generation apple watch is for suckers

Why would you pay $400 for something that costs $349????
You just only spend hundred dollar bills and refuse to accept change or something?
Also, since clearly with the AMAZING advancements in smart phone tech, it's going to take years and years and years to shoehorn all the capabilities into a product 1/7 the size- if you want to make phone calls from a watch in the meantime, as a pointless display of the current very, very minor ability to replace a phone with a watch; I believe Samsung has made a 1st generation product for phone calling sans phone. You are DEFINITELY the target demographic.

I find these numbers on the apple watch sad.
17% interested? Half of the people that know about it at my school don't even know what it does.

Wait until these teens find out the $350 low-end iWatch doesn't even include a band, and that the steel one they might prefer will cost closer to $1000 (let's not even mention the gold one).

In fairness, I don't think Apple is targeting teenagers with the iWatch, I would not expect the interest or expectation to buy among that group to be really high. But I also think they did a pretty lousy job of making a concise case for craving it (for anyone) at the keynote.

I get the distinct impression that Apple is going to struggle to sell the 1st Gen Watch.

It seems a pretty popular opinion that you just don't buy the 1st Gen Apple product ever since the iPhone 3G and iPad 2 had such radical differences to their 1st Gen counterparts.

I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that the original iPad did not have a built in camera. It was clearly a feature they were saving for the 2nd gen to encourage people to upgrade.
