yannyb, I've been giving some updates on the 2.0 FW status on the following thread in the XBMC forum
http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31157

The short news is that since I don't have a mac (Linux/Windows user here :( ), I can't get access to the 2.0 SDK so I can't even build the app for this firmware.

Cool, thanks for the reply.

That is a pain about the new sdk. I had thought the old one only ran on macs too so I assumed you had one!

Just had a quick look at some hackintosh stuff, looks plausible but quite a bit of effort... I used to love building pcs and mucking about with them, now I just find it a real pain and a black hole for time. If I was a better programmer I'd consider buying a mac mini and doing some apps for the iphone but I'm nowhere near good enough and couldn't justify spending the cash.

If you do make progress with a 2.0 version feel free to drop me a line for any help testing etc. I have a couple of xbox's set-up with xbmc using samba shares over wi-fi for files etc so should be able to do some reasonably thorough testing. I expect to jailbreak my iphone once winpwn 2.5 is out and stable - I miss summerboard/customise from v1.14 too much not to :D

Good luck & keep up the good work!

Cheers

You can do one for jailbroken phones. You don't need the SDK for that I don't think.

From what I know at this point, the only way to write apps that will work for the 2.0 FW, jailbroken or not, is by using the real SDK. As far as I know, there is no unofficial toolchain for Windows or Linux that will build apps for 2.0 FW.

If someone knows differently, please provide a link.

Well, I was wrong, there is a toolchain that can compile apps for 2.0 FW with few code changes. I have the app working for jailbroken 2.0 devices now. I will set up a Cydia repository in the next few days once I make sure nothing's broken.

Excellent news!

Looking forward to giving this a whirl over the next week or so.

Thanks again for putting the effort into this, I'm sure lots of people will appreciate it!

Cheers

Ah.... arse! I noticed the original page after a Google search but didn't notice this link. The original WebApp was a bit lacking for me- for a start it didn't use the Video and Music libraries, and just navigated through folders (like the original web interface, really)...

So I already started working on a new WebApp control. It's looking like this so far:

So nothing too special... I modelled it on the Apple Remote app. But the native SDK app is obviously more impressive, is it still being worked on? If so I may as well give up on my one!

awesome

Thanks for sharing that piece of code with the community. I recently discovered it and since I am a happy xbmc user I immediately installed it on my old iPhone 3g. Works like a charm!
