Agreed. Same exact notes app, same exact weather app, same exact everything app on the original iPhone and iPhone 4. I know there are some small differences but nothing drastic.
This is why, seeing the unimpressive jump from iOS3 to iOS4, I don't expect much from iOS5

The main thing I took away from that article is that the author has no clue what he's talking about. Sounds like he skimmed the rumor forums and threw the half-assed info he came away with into the article without the slightest bit of research or common sense.

To the poster of this rant:
"THAT'S ANOTHER THING ........ I am sorry but, as a observation from a man that works on computers day in day out the APPLE crowd for the most part is a bunch of self absorbed Snobs that "think" that they are superior to everyone else in the computer world and they are also quite a rude bunch of individuals. From a professional opinion most MAC users are not that good with computers or common sense for that matter! (This does not Apply to those that use MAC that understand computer science and use their brain)"

Gee, do you think you could be more insulting and use more generalzations?
Kettle meet pot!

MAC whats so great about MAC? I don't get it:confused: it looks exactly like KDE Desktop that is completely free (Open Source) unlike APPLE that is a derivative of Open BSD but yet they charge for it how is that? How in the hell has Apple not been sued for this?

First, this 'computer power user' need to understand the difference between Mac and MAC and probably OS X.

No iOS 5 for 3GS although not confirmed, it would not surprise me in the least if Apple did that to force 3GS owners into being a good consumer and feeding the machine for their own capitalistic gain.

You know, Apple does not force people to buy a new phone or PC. I as a consumer I did not buy an iPhone 4 when it came out, because I had no need for one, my 3GS was fine. I will probably get an iPhone 5 when it comes out, but it's still my choice.
The same could be said for older android hardware, the phone companies won't be upgrading them to gingerbread. Is it to sell more phones or because the new hardware may not optimally run it?

First off, I am a 3GS owner and have been very happy with the device itself since I purchased it. But what I do not like at all is that APPLE is a very greedy and very controlling company! I will say from a computer power users perspective that APPLE is all about control and brain washing its existing clientele and future perspective customers. Perfect example, who else that is a 3GS owner will not attest to the fact that it is quite apparent that APPLE has deliberately thwarted the 3GS performance since iOS 4.1 trying to force peoples hand into upgrading to the iPhone 4.

I might add that after witnessing the past years turn of events with the release of the iPhone 4 then the Verizon iPhone then the White iPhone and now the iPhone 4S what a marketing brain washing scam that is going on right under neath everyone's nose and the masses are lining up like good little sheep even though there are no significant changes made from one model to the next. I mean c'mon people wake up already and use your brain as individual thinkers already!

Everything to do with APPLE costs you out of the Ying Yang. I mean for Christ Sakes just to be able to download free apps for your iPhone Apple demands a frigging credit card, I mean **** even APPS that you have already purchased APPLE demands a Credit Cards for you to be able to download your Purchased APP updates that you LEGALLY own. Yet APPLE claims to Support Open Source? What a load of Crap that is!

I respect Steve Jobs the man is a legend and one of the first pioneers of computers for the public I actually remember back in the day when the first APPLE Computer came out for the main stream public.

Perfectly said, Apple are the kings of brain washing, and so many iSheep would jump off a cliff defending Steve Jobs. I never understood why people can't accept that as of Summer 2011 Android is the bettrr phone now, not just hardware, I mean OS, the brand new HTC phones running Sense 3.0 are night and day better than the very outdated iPhone4, that's a fact.

iOS still running just a screen full of app icons, lol, that hasn't changed since 2007. Time for an update already.

So anybody who doesn't agree with you and likes iOS on the iPhone is a mindless, brainwashed iSheep? Please stop trolling.

Why do you people encourage these trolls? Let them have their thoughts about android running the world and then laugh when apple breaks another record this fall.

The whole idea about brainwashing is just childish.

But about iOS just being a page full of apps: other platforms wish they could rely on their software to sell millions of phones, unfortunately they can't because they just don't have it.

The Apple Money Pit
by Dejan Kordic on June 4th, 2011 at 10:28 PM in Featured, Gadgets, Software

As rumors continue to swirl it has become apparent that the brand new iPhone 4 will, in a couple months time, be no more. Pictures of iPhone 5 or possibly 4S casing have been circulating across Apple blogs over the last few weeks. The release of a 4S in a couple months and iPhone 5 later this year could mean one of two things: Apple is just that money hungry or the consumer is just that stupid. The possibility of Apple releasing 3 devices in a little over year time is absurd. Just as the iPhone 4 provided minuscule improvements over its predecessor, the next in line device should do nothing more than set-up the consumer for yet another out of contract purchase in four months time. While Apple continues planned roll-outs that suit their quarterly financials more than consumer demand, 3GS owners [ dinosaurs in Apples device timeline ] find themselves content with a device that performs up to par with the also soon to be extinct iPhone 4.
Many questions loom in the face of a new device. How many more invisible pixels can you add to the display? The iPhone 4 features a Retina Display at 326 pixels per inch. In Steve Jobs own words, “there’s a magic number around 300dpi, if you hold something about 10-12 inches away from your eye, it’s the limit of the human retina to distinguish pixels.” Meaning that anything higher is virtually invisible and pointless. So if Apple can’t realistically improve in terms of display, what more can be improved upon? Flash support? Don’t hold your breath on it. While it’s clear that HTML5 will not be a web standard for years to come, if ever, Jobs insists on implementing it, not flash, in current and upcoming devices.
Will there be LTE [ 4G ] support? Highly unlikely. While the new iPhone might surpass 4G in number it will surely be behind the curb in speed. However, it will be a worldwide GSM/CDMA device.Don’t expect more screen real estate either. Regardless of the trending 4.3-inch Android devices as of late Apple must remain stringent to its UI, which is not scalable, thus must maintain a 1.5:1 aspect ratio. A larger device such as the Droid X by Motorola would require an aspect ratio change which would also require a redesign of all Appstore apps. It’s safe to rule this option out.
So what will we see with the next iPhone? Rumors indicate a separation of camera lens and flash [ no, not the cool flash ] as well as possibilities of a new and improved A5 processor. Realistically, with the release of iOS 5 across all platforms [ Excluding 3GS ] iPhone 4 users are better off where they are. Each model will run the same apps, load the same website the same way, and if all else fails jail breaking will likely provide more options than iPhone 5 out of box.
In conclusion the iPhone has become a device defined in ability and limitation by its apps. Anything an iPhone 6 will do so can too a dinosaur 3GS.

Good article and I think we will see much of it hold true.

When iOS 5 is discussed at WWDC fans will applaud and the average users will say Meh.
Apple is selling book covers right now. The iPhone is bands down the best looking phone with the most unless apps readily available.
We were considering a 3 iPhone upgrade this summer.
The flash relocation and new processor isn't enough for the $900 layout

The article is harsh but has some good points. Too many devices in a short time can hurt user loyalty.

A completely pointless article. Apple is in the cellphone business, and, in the cellphone business, people expect new models every few months. So what?

I've had the opportunity to use both a high-end Android on T-Mobile and an iPhone on AT&T for an extended period of time. Each has its points -- they are just cellphones for crying out loud.

The iPhone w/ better, cleaner, more reliable apps, and an easier UI for accessing the apps, AT&T, and .5-2 Mbps 3G in my area which I can't even use for my MBP (no tethering plan).

The Android w/ T-Mobile, fast 3G/4G at 8-10Mbps, and (free/included) built-in wireless access point at no extra charge.

I'm unfamiliar with how well Verizon's 3G/4G is working with the iPhone, but, that might be the best bet at the moment, now that AT&T is trying to swallow T-Mobile.

Sorry but I do not work on Apple Computers! Apple Demands and exorbitant amount of money to be Licensed and Certified to work on their computers and if you do service Apple computers without being Licensed & Certified Apple will Sue You.......that's a FACT!

See what I mean by SNOBBY? I use capitals to spell Mac so it will stand out and I have some kid telling me that I do not know the difference between MAC & Mac & OSX.....mmmmmmm....OK!

Lets see if I can Differentiate between the three for the Elitist Snobs:apple:

MAC = MAC TOOLS

OSX = APPPLES PROPRIETARY OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE Platform ( What a Contradiction!)

Mac = "Must - Always - Consume" ( Because Steve Jobs Told me Too )

I have already stated that I like and admire Steve Jobs and that I see him for what he is a pioneer that paved the way for main stream computer use.

But, lets acknowledge the facts here, Steve Jobs happens to be a individual with a very dynamic personality that everyone likes and he is a great salesman and the icon for Apple computers but, people line up to blindly defend Apple and Steve Jobs even when they are completely wrong and entirely way over priced just so they can say I am a Mac and belong to the cult following.

Look at the FOXCON sweat shop fiasco for example, for a man that is such a savior and ambassador of good will why is it that they do not Boycott Foxcon due to their terrible and inhumane treatment to their employees?

Wake Up kids, Apple is a Greedy corporate entity that is selling an illusion and perpetuating anarchy for profit and personal gain and in actual fact they are no better than Micro$oft and in allot of cases they are greedier and much more proprietary, controlling and worse.

Actually you are 100% incorrect. You need to do a little research on the model numbers. Even if they do call this next one the 4S and not the 5, the 2012 iPhone will be the iPhone 6.

Since you have been to 2012, what are some other cool things you found out?

Since you have been to 2012, what are some other cool things you found out?

Seriously? It does not matter if it comes out in 2012 or 2030... the iPhone that comes out after the next one will be the 6th generation iPhone, that's how it works, every new phone is a new generation. The point of the post was to get the idea behind the model numbers understood, not predict anything in 2012, way to use your reading comprehension skills. FTWrath does not understand how the model numbers work and I was simply pointing it out. The reason people are rating your post negative is because all your doing is confusing the situation more.. good job.

iPhone = iPhone 1
iPhone 3G = iPhone 2
iPhone 3GS = iPhone 3
iPhone 4 = iPhone 4

He was saying they were going to release the iPhone 4S and then the iPhone 5 this year. You can clearly see the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 would be the same generation of phone regardless of what you call it.

^^^I think it's time to replace the tin foil on your head.

Dude, I just like the stuff they make. Nothing more.

au contraire, perhaps it is time to wake up up and except reality for what it is vs believing the the usual disinformation that people want you to believe via the illusion they have created to be perceived as truth!

Might I suggest that you read the first book published on Capitalism? It is quite fascinating reading, and should prove to be most beneficial to you in the sense that it might perhaps, open your mind to expand your perception on what is really going on behind the scenes that most people over look and take for granted on a daily basis.

P.S........My Tinfoil Hat Still works fine, no sense in wasting more natural resources just in order to have the latest and greatest that is just "Marginally" better than my Existing one.

But Thanks For Asking!

Hmmmmmm.........Perhaps I should get a new Tin Foil Hat, after all, Steve would want me too:p Perhaps, the New Model will come with iCare:D

You're griping about a two-year old phone not getting software updates. Android devices don't get software updates for months until Google has released them. First, the OEMs have to integrate Android into their own custom UI. Then, the carriers have to put their own stuff on top of it. Then, the update gets to users.

Also, while it may not feed your sensationalistic conspiracy-theory-mongering style, there is no drug that some evil dude at Apple applied onto iDevices in order to get people to buy them and turn them into rabid fans. Conventional wisdom dicates that when a consumer has a positive experience with a company's products, consumers will buy products from that company. It may well be that Apple has been good to those people who made a choice to buy an Apple product, so they know that they can continue to expect good things in future purchases from Apple.

Steve Jobs is not milking anyone. Consumers should take some responsibility too. If you're spending upwards of $200 on something, it's your job to do your due diligence.

Steve Jobs never claimed he was an ambassador of good will. He has always been a CEO who is running a business to make money.

As for Foxconn, did you know that Foxconn has tons of customers (e.g. Amazon). Yet, all the vitriol over this "terrible and inhumane" treatment is reserved for Apple. Funny how that works. But then again, I've seen it in the media. But at least they have an excuse. They're in it to get hits, and it just so happens that criticizing Apple makes for some sensational, attention-grabbing headlines. But you, on the other hand, should read up on the facts.
