Restoring didn't do me any good. It went from a full charge to about 33% in 8 hours. Probably going to do a firmware downgrade to see if it resolves the issue.

It has to the firmware. I've never ran into any issues before the upgrade.

mine was down to 10% today after 6 hours 29 minutes usage; and standby 1 20 hours.

wifi/edge: on
autobrightness: off
brighness level all the way down.
auto mail check: off

someone suggest a tip/help on my battery issue

restoring helped me. i couldn't go 24 hours without it needing to be charged...currently:

UPDATE: usage 3 hours 5 minutes, standby 21 hours 18 minutes and it looks like i have about 80% remaining.

could be firmware...try restoring a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time...

Since updating to 1.1.4, I have had to charge my phone multiple times throughout the day, where as I never needed to in the past. My usage has not changed and all settings are just as they have always been, so I definitely notice a much worse battery life since the update

Update:
Wifi on about 50% of time
Auto Bright: ON set to 75%
Bluetooth: off
Ussage: 2:56
Standby: 1d, 2hrs
Battery at: 60%

I have a feeling I had apps runnin in the background. Since I restarted my phone I have felt like it is better, will update later on tonight will how it lasts the day. But I think it seems much better.

Question: Is there an activity monitor type program to see what kinda of apps are running? Like if I am playing Marble and just hit the home button does that shut down the app, or suspend/hide it?

UPDATE: usage 4 hours 42 minutes, standby 1 day 14 hours.

battery icon just above 50%.

i think the restore fixed my issue...i hope it fixes yours.

2 restores and unfortunately it hasn't solved the issue. The 2nd restore looked promising at first. It made it through about 12 hours with minimal hit to the battery meter. Then it started to lock up and freeze, and unable to pick up my wireless network. I'm hoping the 3rd restore will be the charm.

noticed the battery issue during the first 3 days on 1.1.4

now it has disappeared, in fact it lasts longer than before

anyone else have a similar experience?

I thought mine was getting better, but now I am not so sure. Does anyone know if installing new apps through installer restarts, or stops the usage monitor? Because mine just stopped, and showed two "-"'s all I can think that I did was install a new app.

Also does anyone know the answer to my above questioN?

I decided to do a restore and see what happened. Happy to report that it is MUCH better. wifi sometimes on or off, some phone, some SMS..but today it's at the same usage of about 2hrs and 25hrs standby and at 90%. Before restore I was looking at the same details with 50% and slightly under 24hrs standby.

update:

i did a restore.

usage 3 hrs 9 min
standyby 1 day 7 hrs

about 25-30% left. when you restore it do you guys do a full restore where it deletes everything? or do you restore then itunes puts everything back on? should i be doing a certain restore? or do i just click on the one in itunes and thats it. cause thats what i did, and the battery problem is still here.

Try doing a restore without restoring from the previous backup. If there is anything in the old backup that could be running to use that battery the way it has been, setting it up as a new phone will get rid of that. You can still have your contacts and calendar sync back to the phone this way but you will lose SMS, emails and recent call info.

how do you do that kind of restore?

At the end of the restore process you are given an option, restore from backup or as new.

i did a restore from backup and my battery problems were fixed without losing a lot of my data (just some text messages and recent calls)

I just did this as well (nervously). As I said before (I think) I haven't done this at all in the 8 months I've had my phone.

I did notice that my "other" in iTunes had gone down to 189 mB.

We'll see how the battery work now.

In my post #25, I stated that I thought that something was running in the background or did not shut down properly and was causing the battery to drain. Well, through trial and error since I posted, I think I have found the nasty culprit. It is email.

While doing an email check on edge, I had a rather large email that had attachments seem to get stuck and would not fully download. I skipped that one because it was taking to long and opened up the next one which had completely downloaded and went about my business reading all of the other downloaded messages. When I went back to the large one it still had not completed. I clicked on the home button, then put it to sleep. What was happening is that the large email was still attempting to download thus, kept running even while in sleep and on a freshly charged battery...took it down 25% in 2 hours. The only way to get it to stop was to (as I stated before) power off for about 30 sec and then turn it back on and my battery life returned to normal.

I am not saying that everyone with a rapidly draining battery has this exact same problem but I have seen a few of you do the power off thing and find that it has fixed your drain issue. This was my troubleshooting efforts to discover why at random times my battery would all of a sudden start draining. If it does, power down for 30 sec and then turn it back on.

Hope this helps some of you. Good Luck

My battery life is relatively the same now. It felt bad, a few days when I first updated it. I've now done a restore and it's fine.

After installing BossPrefs and turning off EDGE and SSH I saw no improvements
3:13
1d3hrs
30% left.

This is about average for me, but its nothing compared to what you guys have. I am going to do a restore now and see what happens. What programs do you guys have installed? that are getting this same usage but only using 25% of their battery (if that from some of the posts)

another update:
So restored yesterday without back up.
Installed
Open SSH
BSD Subsystem
Installer
Launcher
Volume Boost 1.1.4
NES - 20 games
few other games (marble, lights off, ball fight)

Wifi on 80% of time
Brightness at 60% auto bright on
Mail set to manual
Edge turned off
SSH turned off

Usage: 1:39 & 21:07 battery at 75%

Seems marginally better, but this is how it usually goes then the last 75% drains quickly. Will update at the end of this cycle. How are others going with their usages? Is there any benefit to "overcharging" (leaving plugged in for hours after max charge?)
