just picked up a owle bubo cant wait for it to get here.

Be sure to tell us your impressions! I definitely need some sort of a quality wideangle lens for the iPhone, and the Bubo seems like the way to go

The iphone 4 Wide Angle Case, the one that has the realtor video, looks awesome as well. Has anyone tried that one? The only thing to me seems that for that price, you could get the Owle Bubo for just $50 more, and you get so much more for the money. I still don't know about investing that much money. Still trying to convince myself (and the wife:D)

Pretty sure they are editing it in iMovie or Final Cut Pro. Don't see a point in editing it on the iPhone, iPad maybe...

You'd be surprised how many people are editing on their iPhones (the point being, you can't carry Final Cut Pro in your pocket.)

The guys that are running the iPhone Film Festival just entered one of my Bubo/35mm Adapter test videos under the best cinematography category. And though I appreciated it (and was very surprised as well!) I told them that I will be shooting a more complete short film (with a story) to enter into their festival (my shoot starts next week at a very cool location!) I will be editing this all on the iPhone 4, partly for the challenge of it and to show that it can be done, partly because, in some ways, it's just more convenient... though admittedly it is also often times very frustrating (I would rather do this on the iPad 2, but can't afford it at the moment.)

If anyone is interested, I'll post the link to my finished short film once it's done. It's a ghost story being shot at an abandoned haunted hospital! Here is a still shot I took today from the room I will be shooting in (shot with the Hipstamatic app through the OWLE Bubo.)

That location looks sick! Best of luck with the film and i'm sure everyone here would love to see it when it's done!

Yeah, i'm sure you can edit stuff on the iPhone but i find the experience lacking especially coming from a FCP background and wanting more control in multiple audio tracks, audio adjustment, video filters and precise cutting. Also my iPhone only has 16gb flash memory, and i've already filmed more than that filming for the motocross movie...

I got the. Back case kit with all three lens with it and just off a small test trial I must say that it's pretty nice. It makes a big difference on picture view and quality. The owle bubonic should be here tomorrow to I'll let you know about that then.

Finally finished my little film. Despite the nice lens attached to the iPhone 4/OWLE Bubo setup, it's still pretty grainy due to the low light (I did film this on location at an abandoned and supposedly haunted hospital after all!) And yeah, there was no way I was going to edit this on the iPhone, so I used iMovie on my Macbook Pro...

Let me know what you all think! (best heard with good headphones)

How good is the wideangle/fisheye? Does it cover the entire screen?

Wow, that was awesome! I want to see more now =) Great work!

Did you use lenses attached to the Owle Bubo or was the focusing done in the software?

Thanks! Yes, I used the Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens attached to the 35mm Adapter on the OWLE Bubo. Makes for really nice shallow depth of field and better color saturation, but adds more graininess and a softer over-all focus.

There is so much more I wanted to do with this movie, but considering I only had one hour to shoot the footage at the location (with constant interruptions) I guess it came out ok...

Can my new mount (iStiki) be added to the 1st post please?
See my signature for details. Thank you.

Added! Interesting and a very unique design. How strong would you say the suction cups are?

Movie

Genshi: Great job on the movie. Thats pretty amazing that it was shot with an iphone!! Congrats!

Thanks Retrosonic, I do appreciate the kind words. The short recently won 2nd Place for overall Best Film at the iPhone Film Festival.

"Rollei has announced an add-on telephoto conversion lens for the Apple iPhone 4. With an angle of view of 16°, the manual-focus Rollei telephoto lens allows the iPhone camera to capture distant subjects in great detail. "

Amazing how many quality photo and video related accessories have been coming out for the iPhone. I myself just won (from the iPhone Film Festival) the Steadicam Smoothee and this thing is simply amazing! I'll have to put up some test footage when I get a chance. I only wish I was able to attach my Bubo with the 35mm Adapter, but the Steadicam only works (is only balanced) for the iPhone naked.

Looks very promising!

This one I would get!

Hi genshi and other Photography friends!

Great collection of tools in this thread! What I'm wondering though if you're on the road, filming or taking pictures, what kind of case do you use? I mean I have my iPhone in the pocket and I'm happy with its standard camera, but always when I try to take a picture it's either too late or the camera app takes too long to get started. So how are you carrying the iPhone with you (if it's not fixed on a stand)?

Additionally, sometimes I have the feeling that it might slip through my hands when taking it out of my pocket. :S

Any suggestions?

iPhone 4 with Owle Bubo and SteadyLens

I have the Owle bubo and some Zeikos 37mm filters and am loving it! I ran across a cheap video stabilization app for the iPhone a while back before I got my bubo and it works very well. It does a great job stabilizing video with and without the Owle attached. It's called SteadyLens and I believe it only cost me $2.99. Way cheaper than getting a Steadicam Smoothie. It digitally stabilizes video so it cuts off a little bit of the video resolution but it's not a big deal to me. It makes videos soooo much smoother. Plus it also takes out the annoying rolling shutter effect that plagues the iPhone's. It does it's processing in real time. You can also turn off the stabilization feature and just keep the rolling shutter part turned on. The Owle and SteadyLens are a perfect combo! I can't wait to try out zoom lenses and other lenses on my bubo :)
