This would be good news if true. T-mobile still has unlimited data plans and decent monthly rates (and they properly give you a discount if you bring existing phones).
thanks for the info
When travelling in the U.S., my iPhone 3G will (occasionally) roam on TMobile's network.. so the hardware must be compatible?
this constant tease of another carrier is getting tiresome. AT&T sucks, we know this, and it's dragging down Apple's reputation. When I had T Mobile, I never had a problem with calls dropping like flies, and the cost was much less too. Customer service? FREAKIN AWESOME!
I was thinking of getting a new iPhone but I'm so done with AT&T both for DSL and for cell service I may end up saying "***** it" and buy a damned droid phone or whatever, just so I can save money. I like Apple products but I don't drink the Kool Aid.
What does that even mean anyways? You either like the iPhone or you don't. The only people that seem to be bitching are the windows/android fandoys. It gets dumber by the minute.I like Apple products but I don't drink the Kool Aid.

EDGE is all along supported, 3G is the in the question whether compatible with T-mobile or not since ATT 3G and T-Mobile 3G frequencies are different
I know with my 1st Gen iPhone I unlocked it to TMobile with my Moms SIM with no issue at all.
I have no problem with Android, but you've got to admit the fanboys on the interwebs get a little annoying at times. Not true. Had my iPhone for 3 years. It was a good phone was happy with it. Now I have an Android and I am equally happy. The thing that makes me love my Android phone more though isn't the phone but the Network.
This is totally logical. Sure there is a frequency issue but i am sure the chipset they picked will accommodate this need. The UMTS is technology they are already working worldwide. Can they build a CDMA iphone sure but lets face it, the phone would be crippled from the starting gates. The lack of concurrent access is an issue AKA no dual channel use aka no talk and surf. This has been in apple ads worldwide. CDMA does have a non-supported ability to do talk and surf but that would require the CDMA provider to support it and the hardware. Verizon explored this before LTE and opted to just push out LTE as quickly as possible. Iphone on LTE will be on all LTE carriers. T-mobile VZW ATT. They are all fundamentally GSM alliance members which is where the Iphone lives.
People will be buying a $200 Ipod because they REALLY won't have any bars no matter how they hold it..
So ATT or Apple buying them?
If I am not mistaken T Mobile is owned by the "Deutse Bundesposte" one of the largest carriers in the world. I believe Vodaphone is also a part owner. They are not about to go under. The "DB" was trying to sell T Mobile but that is a whole different scenario than going under.didn't i just read someplace that t-mobile was on a list of probable companies to go under soon?
if apple is going to make iphone multicarrier in the US it makes the most sense to go with VZW first. Only an idiot would think otherwise. That being said, I have my doubts that apple will ever go to VZW because of how hard VZW has been pushing droid, and apple cant get VZW to bend over like ATT. VZW doesnt need iphone as much as ATT does. Also I have my doubts about iphone to tmo since tmo is a partner with google in the open handset alliance.

$50 - unlimited talk and $15 - data plan will be awesome ...
bring it on T-Mobile
hope they keep the rates same for iPhones too; not hike the rates ...
also another question whether Verizon will allow iPhone with out sticking "Verizon sticker" on the iPhone.
