First things first, why is it so rare for a rumor site to note that Digitimes is about as reliable as hiring a palm reader? I'm pretty sure they just make stuff up. Heck, the last time they popped up, they said that Leopard was being delayed so Boot Camp would be Vista compatible, and the next day Apple released a Vista-compatible update to Bootcamp. Now, if that isn't a thoughrough discrediting, I don't know what is.

my guess is different laser engraving. enough of a change to justify a different "case design", but not really anything different. just a carrier laser engraved for europe. nothing to see here folks, move along... move along.

The carrier logo was not laser engraved into the prototype iPhone, the Cingular logo was displayed on the LCD's displayed image, not the bezel. The carrier is not shown on the back either. The Cingular logo will probably be the AT&T Deathstar logo though.

I am confused.

I thought both Foxconn and Quanta are Taiwanese companies.

If so, why are iPods and iPhones being made in China?

Isn't Taiwan enemy to China?

I don't know about Quanta. Foxconn has plants in China. Apparently, it's not unheard of. LiteOn is Taiwanese, but their manufacturing is in China. I think you are confusing the relations between the government with their economic relations.
