Please explain to me the linkage between multiple lenses and the "need to take a photo every other second". Also, studies have shown that the the vast majority of phone users do NOT take "a photo every other second". I will take the same number of photos regardless of how many lenses are on the phone. And if I'm going to take an image, I want choices regarding what lens I use.
Firstly, why do I need to explain personal preferences to you?

Wearing business suits, I do not like the bulk or the weight that comes with carrying my iPhone in my inner pocket.

Fine, that you are happy with current iPhones with multiple lenses, but what does your preferences have to do with my preferences? Guess what, I want choices, too.

Regarding the 'studies' you mentioned, what relevance do they have here?

I can just as easily state that, since your so-called 'studies' have shown that the vast majority of phone users do NOT take "a photo every other second", the focus on lenses and camera capabilities is highly overrated.

Why, I don’t understand this. Every design choice has to be driven by a change. Why the change in the back camera?? Are we finally getting a zoom lens maybe? Otherwise it’s just a change for the sake of change and will be pointless.
This makes a good bit of sense. The horizontal camera bump gives the phone room to have a telescopic lens.

I’m not holding my breath! Maybe a significant design happens when Tim Cook retires in 2045.

I like the idea of the half glass half aluminum back, cool new two tone look. However I don’t see them abandoning titanium after two years, especially with the Apple Watch just going to it.

With that; titanium chassis, aluminum/glass back. An iPhone with 3 different materials just doesn’t seem very Appley.
Moving to aluminum would keep the weight in check.

if you really want a giant, battery-laden brick that can rest flat on its back, Apple (and many others) make MagSafe battery packs that will instantly give you exactly that.
That suggestion tends to go down like a lead balloon with many people. Maybe they're design purists and don't like the idea of placing something external on their phones to achieve what they want, which seems reasonable. Also consider that to achieve a decent increase in battery runtime, current Magsafe battery packs are much thicker than an iPhone would be if it was only as thick as the camera bump, and so they're thicker than many "I just want a thicker iPhone" people would want (or else they'd have already gotten a battery pack), and they require the user to get used to an external accessory that they have to remove and stash somewhere if they keep their iPhone in a pants pocket, and then require them to fish out the battery pack from wherever they've stashed it when they want to use the iPhone again (that is, if they always want protection from "phone rock").

Some aftermarket manufacturers might consider making Magsafe battery packs that are only as thick as the camera bump (none exist at the moment), allowing you to slide the iPhone in and out of your pocket while leaving the battery pack in place, but designing these would be a problem since a significant percentage of their internal volume would be occupied by the Magsafe hardware, reducing the size of the battery portion, and then there's power loss through the Magsafe connection, which you don't get by simply having a comparably larger battery inside the iPhone.

iPhone cases with an integrated battery are another option, but many people (about 20%?) don't put their iPhone into a case and don't want to, and these cases are also a lot thicker than many people who just want a little thicker iPhone with a commensurably bigger battery would probably want.

Magsafe wallets for credit cards might be a thinner option for some people who just want to eliminate the camera bump rocking and don't really need a bigger battery, but I don't know how well their dimensions actually achieve this.

I guess I just wish we could get a truly "Air" line of iPhones (maybe we are soon?) that are less powerful in specific ways to make them more efficient and specialized at the core functions

Having all these iPhones keep ramping at the same level and essentially be a movie studio + Playstation in your pocket has become total overkill for a lot of us ... and all the design features end up working backwards from that it seems like

Innovation under Tim Apple
  1. Lonely island... i mean dynamic island
  2. New Camera Position
  3. Very slim phones
This man managed to convince the world apple is number 1 whilst annually pushing out the most mundane, overpriced, gimmicky & bug ridden phone & OS.

If that`s not worth of massive bonus i dunno what is
Uhhhhh Apple Vision Pro. Newest device in a decade. Great device if you can afford it. A taste of what’s to come in the next decade

Oh… the camera bar rumored for the phone 17 will probably help fir better spatial photos and video

Really all I want is a great camera and enough battery to get me through the day. The ProMax gets me through the day easy (38% currently and will be in bed within the hour).

Anything intensive I’m going to do on a bigger screen (my job involves a lot of research and writing - and while I’m using a lot of AI for those purposes I’m not going to do that on the phone). No iPhone gaming here - I don’t even have time to play my beloved Civilization anymore.

So in theory I’m prime candidate for an “iPhone air”, but in practice I suspect the camera won’t be as good. And I have a very active three year old, so I really want an excellent camera. And even if the camera is good enough, I currently use all three lenses pretty frequently. So I suspect the “Air” won’t be for me. I guess we’ll see though. If those renders are true about the pro I might have to go air out of principle 🤣

For as long as the smartphone exist, the industry is presenting a rectangular screen with a camera on the back and front … and they still managed to fight for design infringement … Significant design changes for the iPhone is mainly a camera placement and the main reason for this is for people to show offthat they have the latest to the others … But sure Apple, this is another revolution until someone launch the real revolution

The camera island/bump design change for the Pro models appears to be quite different. Other than that expecting no change. Would like to see some nice colours for the Pro model. Not so sure about the base model.

"Android phone design changes with each successive model", What?? The S25 looks exactly the same as the S24 and S23, smartphones have peaked.
Samsung isn't the only Android game in town. Besides, they stopped being relevant to me the day they locked down their bootloader. I'll admit they have nice hardware, but the Devil will skate to work before I put up with their bloatware.

Lol, man. What happened to real design at Apple?

Remember that beautiful black iPhone 4 design? It was beautiful. Make the phone look exactly like that again, just in the bigger sizes.

View attachment 2483217

Remember the MacBook Air from 2010? It was insanely thin and looked really nice. Just make that design again with the borderless display and an upgraded camera.
The 4 is a design classic, the progenitor through which all modern handsets can trace their lineage. But the larger sensors on
That's a hardware problem ... the phone is too physically big!

That's what so many of us small phone folks have been saying!!
Size is relative. If someone uses a Max iPhone for a few weeks then the regular model starts to look really tiny. The 6.1” models are just about the sweet spot for dimensions but there is still too much out of reach.
