My brother is in Afghanistan and my mom tried to guess his passcode too many times and disabled his phone. The main computer that he last synced to is 1500 miles away. How do I get the information off of his phone before I restore it. Is there like a program i can download that will turn his phone into a flash drive to get the info off of?

You can't. You will have to restore in DFU mode. You will lose all saved information.

My iphne is locked, it says Iphone is disabled connect to Itunes, but when i connect to itunes it says Itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You most enter the passcode on the iphne before it can be used with itunes. Please could somebody help me!!!!!!!

I got same problem. I have a passcode set and I know my passcode.

I dropped my phone and it became non-responsive since. I try to restore it but the message "Itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You most enter the passcode on the iphne before it can be used with itunes." My screen is blank and I have no way to enter the passcode.

Any help appreciated.

Same answers as above.
You will have to restore in DFU mode.

I am having the same problem. My company had an iPhone donated to us and I am trying to wipe it so one of our clients can use it. I have tried to do a restore in DFU mode, but I got a 1601 error after an hour of it downloading and restoring the software in itunes. I'd really like not to have to call the donor and bother him, but I'm starting to wonder if this phone is broken and that's why he donated it. Are there any other (legal) ideas, or do I just have a pretty paperweight on my hands?

You should call the "donor" and get the code.

Yes, call the donor. He/she would rather you cause a minor inconvenience by making a 10 second phone call then designating their contribution as a "pretty paperweight" and never using it.

Thanks for the advice. I did give the donor a call and he was having some problems with it as well and he decided to use it as a tax write-off and get a new phone rather than try to fix it. Oh well. Thank you for your ideas anyway

My ex g/f kept trying to figure out my password and now its disabled and is allowing emergency calls only. I know the password my phone just wont let me enter it. Ive tried connecting to itunes, but that doesnt work, and the dfu mode isnt working either, any suggestions????

Dfu mode does work. Keep trying till u get it
Right. It's tricky.
That's all you can do.

You sir, are a genius!

Put it into recovery mode and restore it.

Unplug your phone from your computer. Turn the phone off by holding the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds. Now press and hold the home button, plug the iPhone into the computer. Keep holding until you see the iTunes logo and the USB cable. It shouldn't take more than 15 seconds.

iTunes will be like OMGZ TEH RECOVERY MODEZ0RZ U MUST RESTORE!

Then you should be good to go.

So the story goes that my boyfriend had an iphone 3g he bought 2 or 3 years ago and had upgraded to 3GS. I lost my iPhone last week and he told me I could keep his iPhone. I was like, great! I have 16 more months to go until I can get an upgrade so that seemed like a great idea. My boyfriend didn't remember his password and he, being not very clever tried so many time that he ended up disabling the phone. I tried everything on the internet and was in despair. I came across your comment, and was like... "Wth, I guess I can give this a try." And am I glad I did. Since my bf already has all his contacts and apps on his other phone, he didn't care that I delete his stuff so I restored it. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I created an account just to thank you and to let people know that sure there are thieves out there looking for a solution but more importantly there are genuine people like me (with an idiot bf.. nah just kidding:) who don't know much about technology and really appreciate any help. I am sure thrives who steal iPhone know before hand how they will open/unlock the phone. Maybe not all, but at least most of them.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the computer he synced the iPhone with, he did not have it anymore. He sold it and got a new one never realizing that he'd need the itunes on that comp. to restore the iPhone in case he forgot the password.

Help locked and disabled

While we were drunk last night I was showing my dad how to password protect his iPhone 3G. He put in a code and when he was done went to unlock it and not sure if he pushed the wrong number while entering the code in the general menu or what but it will not unlock and after he tried to many times has now disabled the phone. We can't connect it to the computer it's sync with because my mom got it in the divorce and he doesn't have Internet at his new house. So now we don't know what to do. This is why drunks should not mess with their phones after they have starting. Ugh. Please help

Find a computer with iTunes installed and plug it in and restore it.
