Thanks for this I will try it when I get home today.

3.0 here I come.

big thanks to all....

Kudos to Suondmao, this worked like a charm, but I also have to thank everyone else who had a hand at this. No messages to speak of, going on 5 hours now... ;)

Hi there,

Im still having troubles with the iapd's on my 1st gen iphone with damaged dock connector running FW 3.0 (aka not using any assessory's and getting the message and loosing the sound)

The 2.2 version from prospero doesnt show the message but crashes all the time (top show reportcrash process eating cpu and getting iapd log files generated.)
Some other 2.? version behaves the same (but is much much smaller)

The 3.0 version from pirulo doesnt show the message, doesnt crashes, but does disable the speaker function (ipod stops playing music randomly, games dont have sound, key clicks dont click).

So basicly i can choose between:
1) 100% working iphone that is somewhat sluggish and eats battery
2) iphone with ipod function stopping randomly, (mostly) no sound from keys/games when using speaker.

So
1) did apple change the iapd so that the previous patch method doesnt include keeping speaker?
2) or isnt there a real 3.0 patch for this specific problem (just for not supported stuff))

Which leads to:
1) anyone working on a 3.0 patch? (ida is too confusing for me ;)
2) anyone can write two apps for me (or some basic guide that tells me howto do it)? 1 that copy's iapd.fix1 to iapd and restarts iapd and another that copy's iapd.fix2 to iapd and restarts iapd? :)
3) anyway to turn off the reportcrash function?

The hacked ipad file works perfect on my 2.2 phone.
None of the items you listed are a problem on my phone.
You may have some other damage?

So I read all the thread, because I had the same exact problem for a loooooooooong time:
1) "This accesory..." message
2) Battery going down fast (1 1/2 day before 3.0... less than 1 day with 3.0)
3) no sound through the speakers when getting a phonecall or a sms
4) in settings-general-usage it was always written as if i had almost as long usage as stand-by time (12 hours stand by and 11:30 usage time??!!??)
5) When I shut it down, it reboot automatically in the next 5 seconds...

So yesterday I used the iapd file given on page 10...
worked good for me, because:
1+2+3 are gone...(battery last 1 1/2 days without push) (I have a iphone 2G so I think battery life of only 1 day is ok for a 2 year old phone)

4+5 still there...I don't know why..Anybody can explain why constant reboot and the usage time of so much???

Thx and greetings from Luxemburg

Does anyone know if the sound fix still works in 3.0

I'm debating upgrading to 3.0 but only if the sound fix still works.

Is there a working iapd file for the 3GS?

If anyone's got it, plz share!

Prospero42 help please! Need 3GS version of iapd working and you are the expert at disassembling ARM7 code!

i can confirm that the fix works on 3.0 but its on a 2g iphone. Havent tried the 3g yet.

There have been a few off topic questions regarding the popup when you are using something not designed for iPhone even if it is working. (some type of dock connector)

there is a new application called PopUp blocker that blocks all kinds of annoying apple popups.

go to cydia and add this repository

http://david.ashman.com/beta/

then look for the app PopUp blocker. Install that and then go to Settings and scroll down til you see the settings for it.

remember it is in Beta though but it is working well for me

for some reason when i tried the popup blocker cydia app, it often times crashes my springboard and has me restart in safe mode (and scrambles my icons on each page!) :( Anyone else experiencing this?

Two questions:

1. Does it effect battery life? I heard the plist edits reduce battery life.
2. Does it mess up the line out from the audio dock?

Would appreciate it if you knew. Thanks!

Hey guys the 3.0 iapd does work on the 2G but unfortunately it seems like the soundfix no longer does. I was having issues with my iPhone so I decided to restore and upgrade to 3.0.1 everything works great except the soundfix hopefully someone can find a solution for it.

I was able to get the soundfix working. However I used the 2.2.1 iapd file on the 3.0 firmware. While the 2.2.1 file is a bit smaller I haven't noticed any significant difference yet. I have uploaded the iapd file I used.

iapd file: http://www.mediafire.com/?d01yznbxnnw

I also used the same/old soundfix I was using on 2.2.1 located here: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/7499671/

I haven't lost any sound since trying it out a few hours ago and all the 3.0 features still seem to work perfectly fine.

@osx86

this isnt the problem that is being discussed in this thread... that is a standard iphone popup message when you use something in the dock that isnt specifically compatible with the iphone vs the ipod.

the problem we are having here is that the actual dock has shorted out somehow causing bizarre behavior. im not sure why we have to keep clarifying the point but that is the case..

@i228

as for the soundfix on 3.0 i have just always used the 2.2.1 fix.. I didnt try the 3.0 fix posted here so my soundfix always worked. not sure what the difference is but if the 2.2.1 fix aint broke... well you know

@strike1555

not sure if plist edits in general take up more battery life but I have them all over my phone and the specific ones I am using dont seem to change my battery life. In the case of *THIS* fix it actually improves battery life :p

not sure what brought you to this thread but if you have the same problem we all have here then the battery life before the thread was only a couple hours.

If you only have the issue of the popup when you plug something into the dock then try this:

Ill post it here again because I know people just dont really like to read whole threads....

Stimpy has written a great MS Extension which blocks certain popups and is completely customizable. Block SMS, Calendar, Voicemail, Missed call, etc etc etc

Great thread everyone. I got my Iphone wet and experiencing the same problems. "Accessory Message" , Killing my battery, music stops randomly because of a similar "Accessory message pop up", and my iphone wont power down.
I want to try changing the iapd file to resolve the same issues with my 2g 3.0 iphone. The question that i have is, do i have to jail break or hack my iphone ? My iphone currently is not jailbroken, it is as it was when purchased only upgraded to 3.0 and is running on AT&T. If I do have to jailbrake to change the iapd file, can someone please tell me how to do this and what i need to do this? And once it is jailbroken, what do i need to do next to change the iapd file. And can someone confirm that even though i have 3.0 , do i need to use the 2.1 or 2.2 iapd file. I've read so many posts on this thread and im getting a little confused. REALLY APPRECIATE ANYONE WHO CAN HELP. ALSO IF ANY OF YOU GUYS ARE IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA, I'LL PAY SOMEONE TO PROPERLY DO THIS.

Possible fix for docking error

I was getting the docking error message on my iphone 2G (2.2.1)--ie. the phone thought it was docked so the sound was disabled for games, music, typing, etc. and the annoying message popped up everytime I picked up my phone and I would have to tell it I didn't want to use it in airplane mode. My husband opened up the phone and found that the connection from the motherboard to the docking port was loose. He soldered the loose connection and it is working like new again. This may be why Apple is replacing the phone because they know it is fairly easy for the connection to become loose. If anyone would like instrux on soldering, I may be able to get him to youtube a vid of it...

Good luck to you all.

I fixed the problem with the Suondmao patch in my iPhone 2g fw 3.0, but I was very surprised that the only patch that worked was that made for fw 2.0.2 applied on iPhone with 3.0. Anyway it works again. THANKS Suondmao.

Hey guys here's an update. The 2.2.1 FW fix works on 3.0 and 3.0.1 however is drastically depletes performance. The 3.0 fix works and doesn't hurt performance however the sound fix does not work anymore. I cannot seem to find a way to fix the sound. So it's either have good performance and no sound or slower performance with sound.
