Hey guys here's an update. The 2.2.1 FW fix works on 3.0 and 3.0.1 however is drastically depletes performance. The 3.0 fix works and doesn't hurt performance however the sound fix does not work anymore. I cannot seem to find a way to fix the sound. So it's either have good performance and no sound or slower performance with sound.

I have an 2g iphone opperating off the 3.0.1 fw and i keep getting the error message like every 15-30 seconds and i want to try one of these patches but im not sure which will be best....right how my ringtones are the only functioning sound from my speakers but i can still listen to the music thru the headphone jack without a promblem so...
Can you elaborate on the depleted performance with the 2.2.1 FW &
Is all sound disabled with the 3.0 fix? or is the the sms and music affected?

I'm talking about 2-3 sec delays when opening and closing apps. Keyboard slow down ect... the 3.0 fix will allow ringtones to work but not sound for apps, keyboard, sms messages. Using the 2.2.1 fix will allow these to work again but performance drops. I'm guessing something in 3.0 (3.0.1) changed and the soundfix needs to be updated.

Anyone had any success with the 3.1 FW? I usually wait a few weeks until I upgrade.

iPhone is physically broken and I have this problem

My friend just gave me his old iPhone and it has this problem with all the symptoms.

It seems obvious what is wrong with my phone. The black section on the back of the case is cracked and held together with electrical tape. I just have a standard USB cord and to get it to connect I have to attach rubber bands around the iPhone to make the connection tight. The whole connection part is loose/damaged.

I am planning on getting this fixed. What I am wondering is if I just need to replace the cracked case or whether I also need to get the dock connector fixed. I'm just not sure if the problem is because everything is loose, or whether there is an additional problem with the actual connector.

My friend said he dropped this phone many times and I wouldn't be surprised if it got wet too.

I think the recent 3.1 update has fixed the problem itself. First time after I updated to 3.1, and did a restore from backup. The problem never came back and i thought it was because restore copied the patch from the backup. Yesterday I finally took time to updated the 3.1.2, and set it up as a new phone, and the phone has been working w/o any problem, no need to apply any patched file.

I just tried this with my original iPhone 2G on 3.1.2 FW and can confirm that it fixed both the popup message and the sound for me!

Before the fix my iphone mas showing the 'accessory not made to...airplane mode' msg and would not play any sounds except for ringtones from the speaker.

Now all seem to be working again and the popup message is gone!

Thank you so much!

Hurray!! atlast I found a soft fix for this problem!!:)

After searching all the blogs for the solution.. I found nothing..
I hv done some R&D on this and came up with a solution...

The dig for this problem starts from finding the process in which this is causing and killing it.
fortunately I got an application in the installer which shows all the processes that are running in iphone.
The application is 'Sysinfo'..

You ppl don't need to install this.. as i'm having the cause that is affecting this problem.

Ok no more researches...
Please follow the steps to get rid of this vague message.

1. From Installer, Please install the "File Browser" from the 'Productivity' Category.
2. After successfull installation of File Browser, navigate to the following path
"/System/Library/Frameworks/IAP.framework/Support/"
(Default path the file browser will show is "/var/root". Need to change this to the above path. For navigating that, you need to change the settings by clicking on Settings(in File Browser app) and change the Home Directory in Advanced Settings from '/var/root' to '/')

3. Now you can see a file which starts with 'apd' in the path.
4. Select the file, click on Edit in the bottom and select Delete.
5. Repeat the Delete untill it deletes the file.

6. Now restart your iphone after deleting the file.

Your phone is now free with that message and it will back you all ur features. I'm sure it won't create you any other problems.

I've navigated with iFile all the way to Frameworks directory but couldn't find the file that is mentioned..... :(
I am on 3GS 3.0
installed popup blocker - popups stopped, but still NO sound :(
any ideas?

Is there anyone that can upload an original iapd file for iPhone 3G 3.1.2? I managed to delete my file and sadly I didn't make any backup.

Would appreciate it a lot!

Thanks,
filli

well... since i couldnt connect to my iPhone from Mac trough SSH anylonger...
i've desided to give a shot to a utility called Netatalk....
After i've rebooted my iPhone 3GS it gets stuck on "slide to unlock" screen and keep rebooting... :(

so my only option is to restore now....

i would like to keep my jaibreak... and be able to unlock when needed.

What is the best scenario to choose?

I am certain that this error is down to condensation or water damage. I solved my problem by blasting the open end of my iPhone with a hairdrier for a few seconds. Fixed it straight away. Took a couple of attempts to work perfectly so keep at it. Don't get the phone too hot. A few quick short blasts should do the trick!

I hope it would help, but doubt very much since I never had my iPhone anywhere near water maybe ... once a drop on the home button but that was long time ago.
my trouble has started about a week or more ago
when I was browsing the web being plugged in the Apple original charger....
the charger has some beginning damages on the cable ends...
could maybe some static electricity have caused
the popup?
When I press the home button and slide to unlock , often there is a sound click
and than almost emmidiately followed by "accessory" popup
that cuts the sound

anyway , I've tried to restore iPhone- same popup and No sound !:(

last night , totally out if the blue iPhone made a sound while I was
plugging it in and had a sound and no popup for few hours!??

I am planning maybe dussaseble iPhone to see the contacts on the power
connector chip?

Any ideas?

I didn't think I had any water damage either, but then I remembered I had it in the bathroom once when the shower was on (but no where near). I think that's all u need.

Yeah, I can remember doing similar bathroom / shower listening sessions too
few times ;)
but not on the night when the popup showed up for the 1st time when I was sitting at the bar with an iPhone plugged into a wall socket-
so when I wanted to leave an disconnected the charger-
that's when I got the deadly popup and the sound was gone.....

u still think I should attempt to clean the inside of the iPhone
with something clever, just in case there is something on the contacts?

Yep, this works. I have a 2g iphone running 3.1.2 fireware, just followed the instructions "funnysuresh" gave (though i used ifile instead of file browser, only becouse i couldn't find file browser), and that was it, the last time i will ever see that s%*tbag message saying "this assesory is not made for the iphone" or whatever it is, inwhich have been looking at every 2 minutes for the last 5 mounths eveytime i use my Iphone. SMS messasges, genral alert mesages, the button clicks and the unlock click are all back. It is pritty much christmass here for me. There is also no lag problems which i am aware of either. I cant say for any other version iphones or firewares but for my iphone and fireware thank you who ever discoved or shared this, Huge Cheers.

I had this problem with the " Accessory" message popping up all the time after spilling Sprite ove my phone.

Tried the compressed air trick without success so took it one risky step further.

The sugar from the sprite had made everything rather sticky and the amount of dust in the connector was considerable and probably causing the problem. I used what I can only describe as an engineers ruler to slip passed the connector and 'scrap' the dirt off at the very back. (The ruler is very thin metal about 0.5mm thick and 15mm wide, see photo). Blasted it again with the compressed air and this seems to have done the trick. Message hasn't come up once in the last hour since I've done it.

Hope this helps.

Carl :)

I Fixed It:)

I was on the phone all morning with my phone company, they had never seen this error message before, so while the guy was "doing his job" lol i googled the error message, and while it kept popping up, i did what some people said to do, blow into the phone, like where u plug it in, i even took a tooth pick and scrapped it lightly a bit, ITS FIXED!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D I HAVE NOT SEEN THE ERROR MESSAGE ONCE SINCE!! Thanks guys!

Water damage

Yeah I too had water damage..... I was just wondering where I could find these indicators that others were talking about, and if there is any way to cheat or make it look like there hasn't been any water to ever touch the iPhone 3g? Accidentally dropped it into a river for about 10-15 seconds, but thank I had my otterbox defender or else I don't think that it would be alive today! I totally recomend the defender as a case.....

So close...

Hello, I followed your guide and deleted the file (made a backup first) but it was located at a slight different folder (iOS 4.0.1, 3GS): "/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IAP.framework/Support/".

It worked, that painful notifications stopped. However I no longer can use my Philips Dock (audio), it is not recognized (no error messages, just won't work)...

any ideas? thanks!

Fix Accessory not optimized etc..

I just updated my OS on my 3GS to 4.3.3, and some of my Energizer battery pack/cases started to give this error along with no soound etc..

This happened before with the 3.1.3 OS, and this fix (or similar) also worked there..

my file was in the location
/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IAP.framework/Support/

all my accessories seem to work OK...

So I think it depends on WHY you get this message... if your device has an issue (dirty/wet etc..) then this "fix" will only stop the error from popping up...

It will not make external devices work, if there is a real issue with your device.. then it needs to be repaired.. but in my case the power pack thinkgy is what has an issue, so this fix allows it to still be used with my phone without any issue, and that popup stops popping up

I made BU dir, and moved the file in there (see picture)

Hope that help someone with their issue!
