So 1 state per month in the United States only. This means this feature will reach Belgium in Maytember 2145

Seriously, why do they even bother with the US? At the rate they're going they could have almost finished the EU by now. And they could even try to tackle China too, which is big but quite centrally organized so might be an easier target. Though most likely Alibaba10centHuaWhatever already have that market locked up by now.

I'm not even looking forward to this anymore. Why? In this day and age, I will not be handing my phone to law enforcement and/or the military, which is also law enforcement now in some cities.

Although we don't have to show our ID to the police immediately when asked, I really wish we had this feature here in the UK.

Digital ID's carry the risk of a "social credit" system that nobody wants. Can't wait to never use it.

I am not sure I would use it. I don't like the idea of handing my unlocked phone over to a government representative.

how so compared to a real ID...
assuming you mean physical ID not “realID” needed to fly, in some horrible degenerate countries people can’t buy groceries if they commit a thought crime or do or say something socially unacceptable. yikes

Well, FL does have its own app(not that it's any good)... I did test out Touchless TSA Pre√ this morning — it's pretty nice.
They pulled the app (supposedly because they were changing vendors) and said a replacement was coming first half of 2025. So far, no sign of a replacement.

Good thing you don’t hand your phone to someone with digital IDs (they scan a QR code or use NFC).

yes, I mean a phsyical ID.

And not sure what the rest of your statement has to do with anything.

DigitalID ushers in possibility of social credit systems. That is the whole point. In some terrible countries you can’t buy groceries without your digitalID and good social credit score. Get it?

You are arguing slippery slope. Yea that's a possibility, but it's not a promise and I think we are a long way from that. Having a digital ID in your phone is no different then an ID in your pocket. They are in the Government dat base regardless.

Responses like yours is why people need lawyers to get them out of bother.
Yes - be rude and borderline hostile to the police if they stop you. Make sure you aggressively shove a phone in their face too. This will always yield the best results 🙄

Rights are like muscles. You lose them if you don't exercise them. Always record the police as you'll need that when your face hits the concrete and their body cams mysteriously stop functioning.

I have had several interactions with the police, none of which resulted in my “face hitting the concrete.” Maybe being super rude and shoving a phone in their face is a self-fulfilling prophecy? How about just treat them with respect and give them some grace since they are ultimately just people trying to do their jobs like the rest of us
