iPhone Duo Supports MagSafe Charging

Rumors about the foldable iPhone were unclear on whether it would have MagSafe charging, but it turns out the iPhone Duo does indeed have a magnetic charging array.

Tech specs for the device say it supports MagSafe wireless charging at up to 25W, the same as the iPhone 18 Pro models. It also supports Qi2 25W wireless charging when using third-party accessories.

Faster wired charging is available, with the iPhone Duo charging to 50 percent in a 20-minute period. That's a little bit slower than the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which can charge to 50 percent in 15 minutes.

The iPhone Duo preorders start on October 16, and it will launch on October 23. Pricing starts at $1,999 for 256GB of storage.

Those were the two items I needed. Definitely moving forward with the Duo. I've needed a change after nearly 18 years of the same form factor. I can finally get rid of my iPad and move to a iPhone and Mac only combo.

IP68 which beats Samsung Fold 8 IP48. That means it should be dust proof.

Wired charging is probably "a bit slower" than the Pro due to the larger battery capacity.

Two thousand dollars is just a bit more than I am willing to spend on a phone. I like it, but I have an iPhone and an iPad, so I’ve pretty much got that covered

I was getting nervous too. I use MagSafe everywhere and it's also my main video camera for Teams calls on my Mac with Continuity Camera.

Where are you seeing lighter? It says heavier on their page at 254 grams

But will it support a MagSafe wallet? The wallets on Apple’s website don’t list the Duo under compatible devices. I use a MagSafe Peak Design stand wallet. Really nice to only carry one thing in my pocket. If the Duo does not support a MagSafe wallet, I’ll have to think more about this decision. Don’t want to go back in time to carrying an old school wallet lol.

I am sure they could add a third camera, Face ID and perhaps Apple pencil charging on the hinge in three - four years and call it the Ultra, and I will pay $3000. But for now, this is a close to a perfect device that I could have hoped for. Perfect set of features, looking forward to seeing the screen tech in person.
