2G - 8GB - birthday present
3G - 16GB - 99% for the capacity upgrade, hate the design
4 - 32GB - day zero phone, stolen in late Oct by muggers
4 - 32GB - replacement early birthday present, early Nov, non-requested early upgrade price from AT&T

I'm tied on favorite between the 2G and 4; I rocked it between my 4s and only really missed the capacity display. I also have an inherent coldness towards my replacement 4; I should still have my day zero one.

2G - 3G - 4

I like the build and feel of the 2G the best... it's the only iPhone that has felt good in my hand without a case... of course it's the only iPhone that I've dropped and broken.

iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS white, iPhone 3GS black, iPhone 4. All were purchased on launch day (except when I got bored with white and went to the black). Can't wait for the next :apple:

2G --> 4

Got a 4GB 2G on closeout after the September 2007 price drop ($299 for an iPhone? Holy crap, what a deal!) and used it up until the iPhone 4 came out. I still have my trusty little 2G around - I mostly just use it as a travel phone now, having unlocked it and all.

I owned the original iPhone, then switched to Verizon for a BB Curve. When the iPhone 3G was introduced, I went back to AT&T, and subsequently purchased the 3GS and now my iPhone 4.

I've had them all as well as tried some other phones in between. I remember having the BB Bold 9000, BB Bold 9700, and the BB Torch in between having iPhones just to test them out.

I really miss the original iphone feel, I wonder why they implement the aluminum backing on the ipad but no longer on the iphone?

I do agree however that the iphone 4 is by far the "sexiest" to be released.

I wish I could edit my poll to include those users who switched to android.

I myself have tried android and always wind up coming back to the faithful ios..

3G in 2009 to 3GS in 2009, then iP4 in 2010 and I will hang onto this until 2012 unless the newer version is seriously compelling.

Refurbished 3G > iPhone 4 ... I skipped the 3Gs altogether, since I didn't see it as that much of an upgrade from what I already had, and needed the money elsewhere. I still shouldn't have spent the money I did on the iPhone 4, but it's been well worth every penny.

My upgrade date is not until 3/2012. So the next will be whatever iteration is released after said date, unless Apple's iPhone arm falls off the end of the earth.

I started with the black 3GS in November in then picked up a used white 3GS in December and I constantly am switching back and forth. I keep the black one in an Otterbox case and the white one naked. Just ordered a white digitizer for the white phone too. Pretty sharp!

On a side note, does anyone think we'll see the white iPhone 4 this month? There have been a few clues like inventory records and shelf space (the most believable). I know that I'll end up ordering an unlocked one directly from Apple (I'm in Canada).

Yeah you forgot 3G to 4...

iPhone 3G white 16GB ----> iPhone 4 (VZW) 16GB

3G to 3GS (only because I couldn't get over my OCD from a couple scratches on the screen) to 4.

In my experience the 3Gs ways hands down better than the 3G, especially after the 3.0 update. The over all performance was just better.

That poll doesn't take at all into account people who just upgrade when their upgrade is up (meaning every other iPhone).

I got the 3G first and then got the 4 this past year.

Original iPhone from day 1. Will I upgrade? I'm not sure. He's been with me for so long, how can I abandon him..
