Ain’t hard to look up reviews buddy. Name me one that doesn’t have durability issues, with proof to back it up?
"...and falls apart just from looking at it funny" I've watched several reviews, on top of owning 10 foldables myself, and I've never seen anyone mention this, nor have I experienced it. Also, when it comes to fingernails damaging the display, I've never experienced this either. It is really simple, don't try to damage the inner screen screen protector with your fingernails, and you won't have a problem. A fingernail might damage the screen protector on the inner display, but it wouldn't damage the display itself...unless the person is Freddy Krueger.

When this so called screen protector is mandatory, and non removable, then it’s the screen. I see this excuse all the time to justify it and it’s reality strange honestly. Is this another stupid “ur holding it wrong” argument?

I love new Apple products. I think it will be the best in class for foldable phones. But, I have an issue if the camera is significantly worse than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Are there people out there who would actually purchase both, and switch between them?

The only screen protector on a foldable inner display that I've ever read about that couldn't be removed without damaging the display itself was the original Samsung Galaxy Fold. I've removed the inner display screen protector on all my foldables (starting back with my first one, the Z Fold 3). In fact, I remove it on day one because I prefer the feel of the inner display without it. I've never had so much as a hairline scratch on any of my inner displays.

Only people that have issues are people who are very careless with their Foldables. Scratches only happen for those who are trying to damage the device. Never had an issue with mine over the years

This device is shaping up to be a dumb decision. Much like Vision Pro, it's too expensive and doesn't really offer much more than an iPhone Max does, so why? It'll be cool for a second if that matters to you, but difficult to handle and likely easy to break.

I'm usually in on new Apple toys, but have to pass on this one totally for a ton of reasons. Have fun with it.

It’s going to have Touch ID over Face ID which for me isn’t an upgrade or downgrade

It will have worse cameras like no telephoto and won’t have VA on main lens like the pros but everything elee will be better at everything else than the pro max from viewing content, using safari, multitasking and any kind of productivity where you need a bigger screen

It all depends if cameras are that much more important than using your phone in everything else

I personally don’t rate the iPhone cameras at all so for me cameras on the fold will be perfectly good compared to the pros

I’m sure some tech heads will buy both. That was my plan but think will just buy the foldable. As if you aren’t buying the pro max for camera then there’s no point getting both

Not sure this would replace someone's need for an iPad. When working from my iPhone Max, I often need to use both hands, but never have thought that I wanted more screen.

Only time I want more screen is maybe when enjoying content while traveling, but that makes it a very first world thing, as I can still enjoy the same content, or surfing on the Max. For all other, there's my iPad Pro. Sure, this would make me want to leave the iPad at home sometimes, but if working and need to log into my website, the iPad or my laptop wouldn't be replaced by this.

Renders this device to an expensive toy, much like Vision Pro is basically home theater for one lonely person and at that point I'm sacrificing sound quality of my theater system and even visual since streaming sucks compared to 4K disc.

There's a market for this Fold, but it's not large enough to justify the investment by Apple, so they're doing it just because they can and have the cash to burn through. I'll keep mine in my pocket.

I do use my iPhone camera a good bit as well, as many others do. I also do a lot of outdoors stuff and this device doesn't appear to be survivable in the situations that my cased iPhone can and does endure.

It won't replace my iPad pro but will certainly replace my iPad mini. I want a bigger screen for everything and having that bigger screen when on the go

Reason apple have finally gone this option is they can release something they are finally happy with shipping. This device is a massive profit opportunity and if they sell what they project this will be a big profit benefit.

It won't for everybodys needs but this is why choice is good. People buy what suits their needs and budget

A fingernail is not a hard object lol
Fingernails and toenails are made of protein called alpha keratin, also found in the claws, hooves, and horns of vertebrates. Fingernail's hardness is rated as 2.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale.

I thought about this. If it were to replace my iPad, I'd consider it. But otherwise, I don't see the need for this personally for me. And like others, I have low confidence in the durability of the screen no matter what they do to it.

Why would anyone defend this lmao. It’s a phone that you can’t use without touching it. You’re going to inevitably scratch it no matter what you do.

Meanwhile I’m sticking with my standard iPhone where it’s never going to be an issue

I truly hope the rollout is enormously successful and it delivers on the promise that so many are counting on. From my perspective, ongoing leaks suggest that there will be an increasing number of important tradeoffs that will result in an end product that will be somewhat less than what many are currently expecting. I fully expect an extremely high quality product upon its release - it will simply lack certain highly-desirable features and functionalities found on the Pro Max deemed of significant importance to a meaningful number of consumers. Although I am very interested in the form factor, this year's release is an easy pass for that reason. But that can also be the precise point of expanding a successful product line - a new product is not supposed to appeal to everyone.

You should stick with what you think you like. Strangely, you seem to have absolutely no knowledge about foldable phones. I'm on my 3rd. I had my Fold 4 for two years and traded it in with not a scratch on the screen ( inside or out ) or on the body. Most of us who own one have no idea what you're talking about. It also seems you don't care to understand what you don't know. That's unfortunate.

No interest in a book style folding phone. This isn’t a phone, it’s a tablet. They should’ve done a vertical fold like the Samsung Flip. I got one a few months ago, my first non-iPhone ever. I love it. Not sure why Apple is trying to make a tablet a phone. Remember phablets? Yeah..
You mean the phablets that still exist today? That basically every phone has become?

The Galaxy Note II had a 5.5" screen... Smaller than even the iPhone 17e.

Unfortunately for iPhone 18 buyers.
This Fold launch and the iOS changes needed probably mean a tiny spec bump, watered down update.
Partially to not hurt sales of this new Fold and partially due to resources.
